Martial arts has been a passion of mine for my entire life. Currently, i am the head striking coach at Metrolina Martial Arts, and have been for 2 years. I have a competitive muay thai/kickboxing record of 9‐3. I'm ranked in 3 different martial arts including jiu jitsu, in which i also compete. I've had the privilege of training with legends of the sport, in the states and in Thailand. I'm interested helping those who are interested in learning about, and participating in, combat sports.

I am an experienced educator with over 30 years of helping students build academic skills and confidence. I specialize in providing individualized instruction tailored to each student's learning needs, using engaging, evidence-based strategies to support growth in reading, and study skills. I am passionate about creating a positive learning environment where every student can succeed.

My specialty is small-scale/one-on-one Elementary and Conversational Mandarin Chinese (although any level is acceptable). I find it important to work directly work directly with the strengths and weaknesses of the student--for example--certain students at lower levels of the Chinese language will require a special focus on aspects such as tones, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and should be worked with closely to improve these aspects of the language in order to build a strong foundation.

My goal as a science instructor is to help all students make connections between the sciences and with the world. I have taught Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Environmental Science and other courses in career that spans years. The quote that best represents my teaching philosophy is by Louis Pasteur. “In the fields of observation, chance only favors the mind which is prpepared…”

For over 25 years, I've cultivated a love for music in myself that has translated into my teaching. My experience as a music producer, songwriting and woodwind instruments informs my teaching, helping students unlock their musical potential, regardless of their skill level.
