Jose Franco is a baseball coach who blends old-school fundamentals with modern-day mindfulness. With decades of coaching experience and a deep appreciation for the mental and mechanical aspects of the game, Jose focuses on developing athletes both on and off the field. His coaching philosophy centers around core baseball fundamentals—sound mechanics, situational awareness, and relentless attention to detail—while challenging players to grow mentally and emotionally through intentional self-reflection. What sets Jose apart is his belief that baseball is more than just a sport—it’s a platform for personal growth. Drawing from his book, The Power of Now in Baseball, Jose helps athletes confront weaknesses, embrace discomfort, and cultivate present-moment focus. His process includes visualization drills, mindfulness practices, mechanical breakdowns, and a unique communication system that fosters trust, accountability, and a culture of continuous improvement. Whether you're a hitter working on pitch recognition or a pitcher learning to reset after a bad inning, Jose uses a 9-set development process designed to elevate your physical game while sharpening your mental edge. His book, The Power of Now in Baseball, is available for free at stoopjuice.com—regardless of whether you purchase a lesson. It serves as the foundation of his coaching approach, emphasizing growth over outcomes, process over perfection, and awareness over anxiety.
"I coached Jose when he played for Youth Service in the 80s - I was his 16u coach the same year he played for Mel Zitter’s 18u team. In 2008 Jose was my pitching coach at Morris High School where we won the PSAL City Championship. As someone with over 50 years of baseball experience I am humble in recognizing I too continue to be a student of baseball. As a teacher nothing makes me more proud than when one of my former students becomes my teacher. Jose is one of these students who’s ability to communicate in a constructive manner I’ve incorporated into my own coaching style.
