I am the current Head Tennis Professional at Bayclub Santa Clara as well as the owner of Momentum Tennis in Cupertino. I am also the varsity coach at Lynbrook High school. With over 15 years of teaching experience, I've developed hundreds of youth and adults. My coaching is versatile and focused on excellent communication to ensure deep technique understanding and application.

Hi there, I am Gavin, a passionate Chinese teacher who believes language learning should be practical and fun. I completed my study in the UK. Over the past few years, I've had the opportunity to teach students of different ages and backgrounds, helping them build confidence in Chinese. My class is relaxed and conversation-focused. I enjoy using real-life situations, cultural stories, and humor to make Chinese feel natural instead of overwhelming.

I am passionate about helping students learn Mandarin in a fun and creative way. Using videos will help them understand the topic and theme more easily. I believe learning Mandarin should be fun rather than stressful. I am willing to make any necessary changes to help students succeed. During the first lesson, the student is expected to take a brief Mandarin skills test to help me understand the student's current level and skills in Mandarin.

Whether you are a complete beginner, an adult returning to the sport, or an advanced competitor, I create personalized lessons that make tennis more fun and more competitive. I am a former NCAA Division I tennis player with 20 years of playing experience and 15 years of coaching experience. My patient, structured approach focuses on clear technique and practical adjustments that match your level, goals, and areas for improvement. Lessons may include forehands, backhands, volleys, serves, overheads, returns, footwork, agility, and court movement. I teach at Athan Downs Park Tennis Courts and Central Park Tennis Courts in San Ramon, as well as Bay Club Walnut Creek and Blackhawk Sports Complex. I work with children, adults, and seniors age 60 and older. I provide tennis balls, a tennis basket, and ball retrievers. Please bring your racquet, tennis shoes, and water. I have been a Basketball Coach for over 25 years from the high school to college level. I spent 17 years (2005-2022) as the Head Men's Coach at De Anza College in Northern California. Prior to that I was the Head Assistant Coach at Notre Dame de Namur University (2002-2004) in Belmont, California. I began my coaching career at W.C. Overfelt High School in San Jose (1999-2002). I have coached hundreds of student-athletes from diverse backgrounds. I am experienced and committed.
