Five years ago, during the pandemic, I began playing pickleball regularly, quickly falling in love with the sport. Over the past two years, I've immersed myself in the game, playing, drilling, and competing in tournaments up to four times per week. While unofficially coaching beginners during this time, my passion for pickleball has grown immensely, driving me to train towards becoming a senior pickleball professional. Currently rated around 4.1 on the DUPR rating scale, I actively participate in advanced tournaments, aiming to elevate my skills further on the path to achieving my professional goals. As a medical doctor, I see pickleball as embodying the values of health, happiness, and community, and I'm eager to share these aspects of the game with others.

I began playing golf after working at a summer camp in the late 90’s. I signed up to coach basketball, but the Bulls were in the Finals again, so by the time I got to camp, the only sport left to coach was golf, and I had zero playing or coaching experience in that sport. I had been an athlete all my life and a coach for almost a decade by that point, so I figured, “How hard can it be?” I found out quickly it was very hard, but also challenging in a way that kept me completely compelled to learn. I spent that summer learning the game from 10 year olds. We would drive over to the local course in rural Pennsylvania nearest the camp in the late afternoon, the sun getting low as we’re out there laughing and having a blast, usually at my expense. I vividly remember my mind being blown at the concept of hitting down, to make the ball go up. Fascinating! I got hooked, came home after camp, jumped into any and everything golf; Tiger Woods, Dave Pelz, Rick Smith, David Ledbetter, Golf Channel, etc., etc. I got pretty good quickly, played all over the place, signed up to attend a golf instructor school in 2002 and the rest is history. I’ve given thousands of lessons coast to coast, including Maui, Scottsdale, NYC, San Diego and even Tijuana. I have a deep knowledge of the game and swing mechanics, combined with a sincere passion to help anyone of any ability learn the game I have come to love so much. "I went into this lesson knowing very little about how to hit a golf ball and how to swing a club... after the lesson I knew why and how to fix it... he didn't just "show me" how to do it right, he explained the mechanics of it. That part is important for me because it helps me to better understand and perform. That was awesome! Great lesson!

I started playing pickleball in 2014 and have been successful in local tournament play events. Due to my early experience, I started the pickleball program at my local tennis club in Scripps Ranch as it increased from 2 to 4 to 8 pickleball courts. From there, with the help of the tennis pro, we started with large groups (30 -40 players) for pickleball training sessions years ago until interrupted by the Covid pandemic. We were able to start training again in 2023 with our current expanded player base. For the last few years, I have continued with private training sessions at local recreation areas, parks and at résidences.
