With over 18 years of playing experience, I've been coaching private and group tennis lessons for about 6 years. I've had the pleasure of coaching adults and kids of all levels at a private club in the Bay Area and various locations in Irvine. As a former junior tennis tournament player and collegiate athlete, I bring a wealth of knowledge to our sessions. I have been playing basketball since the age of 10. My brother was on the high school team and I have trained with him growing up almost everyday. I played on my college intramural team and have taken lessons from professionals that played in college. I regularly play in basketball leagues that even have players over 6’8” tall. I am well versed in young children as I have taught young students English from three years up. (I have my own kids these ages) I am bilingual Mandarin and can explain concepts well in both languages. I am patient, kind, and enjoy seeing others achieve their goals. I look forward to teaching any students be well rounded individuals not just in sports, but in life.

"I’ve asked Jay regarding one review that’s gotten 1 star rating… Not to badmouth anyone here, but it’s very misleading to just hear one side of the story so I’m putting down a review so you guys can decide. What Jay told me happened was that this particular student told through the app that she never needed equipments. So then, of course Jay or any instructor will come empty handed. Then first thing she told him was “I don’t have any clubs” and that’s how their lesson started off. After one hour, she told him how willing she was to take two instead of one lesson a week so she can develop faster. So Jay planned her curriculum accordingly. But at the end, she didn’t explain her text thoroughly regarding getting lessons and he ended up preparing as if he would see her. And then the rest happened. My personal experience with jay is just like the rest of the people here. Absolutely amazing of a coach!

With over 25 years of experience in the game, golf has been a lifelong passion that has taken me from junior competitions to D1 collegiate golf and beyond. I played for Oregon State University and did not miss a tournament. Additionally, I have competed at the U.S. Girls Junior Amateurs twice (‘08, ‘09) and the U.S. Women's Amateurs twice (‘12, ‘14). My PR is 64 back in high school. After college, I competed professionally on the Cactus Tour in Arizona, where I secured a tournament win at -11. I also have experience going to Q-School and made it to Stage 2 my first year. Golf doesn't have to be complicated to be effective—I aim to give students tools they can rely on, even when pressure builds. Lesson Format: Each session is customized based on the student’s experience, goals, and learning style, with a consistent format that ensures structure and growth: 1. Initial Assessment & Goal Setting (First Lesson.) -Discuss student goals (e.g., break 100, improve short game, gain distance.) -Evaluate current swing, posture, grip, and stance. -Provide initial feedback and outline a personalized lesson plan 2. Warm-Up & Fundamentals Review (Each Lesson) -5–10 minutes of dynamic stretching and swing warm-up. -Brief review of previous lesson’s key takeaways 3. Drills & Skill Development -Use targeted drills to build consistency and technique (e.g., alignment sticks, impact bags, foot spray, and tees for feedback) -Focus on one major skill per session (e.g., ball striking, putting, bunker play). -Adjust drills in real-time based on performance and progress 4. Video Analysis (When Applicable) -Use mobile video tools for visual feedback. -Compare student’s swing to previous footage or pro examples 5. On-Course Situational Coaching (Available for Intermediate/Advanced) -Teach course management, club selection, and mental game strategies. -Practice real scenarios like uphill lies, tight fairways, or green reading 6. Recap & Homework -Recap top 2–3 focus points from the session -Provide practice drills or training plan to reinforce lessons between sessions -Offer encouragement and realistic next steps I also provide on-course lessons. . $75 for lessons + $50 for any additional hour, and I also kindly request to cover my green fees. For on course lessons, we will go over tee box strategy, pre shot routines, troubled lies, green reading and course management.
