My name is Roberto. I was born and raised in San José, Costa Rica, and I came to the United States nine years ago to play college tennis. I graduated from Azusa Pacific University (nation's top 10 NCAA Division II school) with a B.A. in Business Management and served as the team's captain on my last semester. I have also coached beginner and intermediate tennis players of all ages in Costa Rica as well as several collegiate dual matches. Regarding my playing history, I have played tournaments in over 10 countries, obtained a junior international ranking, and reached a ranking of #8 in Costa Rica. As of this year, I started coaching pickleball and the experience has been no different! Concepts are very similar and time to raise level is actually shorter!
"Robbie coached my 6yr old daughter which she had lots of fun but at the same time we’ll balanced with structure and great patience. Definitely recommend for kids!

"We have been booking lessons for my daughters with CJ for the last 3 years! My daughters were originally scared of being in the ocean but after their first lesson with CJ they were super comfortable with being out there. CJ was very thorough in his instruction and super effective in communicating with my kids. We will definitely continue to take lessons with him whenever we are in SoCal!

With a tournament win under my belt, I bring passion and expertise to every pickleball lesson. I come from a table tennis background since I was 10 years old. I not only work with adults but kids as well. If you have a pickleball addiction like me, I will help you improve any areas that you wish while having fun at the same time.
"Brian demonstrates a novel way of teaching by giving me the opportunity to identify my own mistakes based on the content that I learned from him on the spot. This exercise, along with the drills, helps me better understand the concepts that we learned today. If there is one improvement I have to state, it’s that the drop shot adjustments could be introduced better. Give them awareness that the balls can come at different height/different speeds first and then show them the techniques to handle such cases.

"Sabrina's lesson was quite impressive, honestly. She was very patient and seemed genuinely knowledgeable, which made me feel pretty confident about trying again. Though I’d like to see my daughter get more comfortable on the court, I think her approach could really help in that regard. Still, it’s encouraging enough to consider booking another lesson soon.

"Bree Tran was an amazing young athlete to coach and always brought great energy and effort to every session. As the younger sister of Haley Tran, she loved following in her older sister’s footsteps and was always excited to learn and improve. Throughout training, Bree made huge progress with the basics of soccer, including footwork, ball control, passing, and confidence on the field. She was always positive, hardworking, and fun to coach, and it was great seeing her skills grow more every session.
