From an experienced school teacher to a 4.5 rated Pickleball instructor, I've transitioned my dedication for teaching into a new athletic arena. With over 3 decades of tennis playing and coaching under my belt, including a two-year stint at Mesa College, I bring a rich and diverse experience to my coaching. My journey into the dynamic world of Pickleball started a short 2 years ago, and in that short span, I've achieved a player rating of 4.0 to 4.5. Currently, I am currently a Pro-Certified instructor with the PPR (Professional Pickleball Registry) to further strengthen my Pickleball coaching credentials. Despite my newfound passion for Pickleball, I still teach tennis, integrating the best of both sports into my training approach. Together, let's work on boosting your skills and raising your game!

I’m Jake Govett, entering my 4th year as a professional lacrosse player with the San Diego Seals. Before turning pro, I competed at the Division I level at the University of Delaware, where I learned firsthand the preparation, discipline, and mindset it takes to succeed at the highest levels of the game. For the past 7 years, I’ve been coaching dedicated athletes at the youth and high school levels in field and box lacrosse, helping them elevate their skills, lacrosse IQ, and overall performance. My training is designed to give players a competitive edge—focusing on the same techniques, strategies, and habits I use as a pro to perform under pressure. I’ve played tennis all my life, always having access to courts and developing a deep appreciation for the sport's unique rhythm and strategy. I believe that each player should develop their own style because we’re all different. My dad, a math, tennis, and boxing instructor, taught me that these disciplines share a lot in common. Mastering tennis is about perfecting your shots, serves, slices, and footwork, but it ultimately comes down to the mental game. On the court, you learn the "equations" of actions and behaviors needed to outplay your opponent, turning each match into an artful challenge of skill and technique. For me, tennis is about the joy of the game, not just winning or losing. It's a sport that starts with love and ends with respect—whether through a handshake, a hug, or a simple nod if you're too sweaty. Most importantly, tennis is always a good time, and it’s a lifelong sport that can help you live healthier and longer!

I work at a country club and have been playing golf for several years, currently holding a handicap of 2. I compete in tournaments and love sharing my insights with others. I can break down simple concepts to help players adjust and improve their swings, always emphasizing the importance of returning to the basics. My goal is to make the game more accessible and enjoyable for everyone!

With a surfboard in hand since childhood, I bring 15 years of experience to my coaching.
