Happy to drive to a student’s home within reasonable distance. Holds a bachelor’s degree in Commercial Music from Point Loma Nazarene, specializing in guitar, voice, songwriting, performance, and music business. Versatile in various styles such as jazz, rock, gospel, funk, metal, math rock, and more. Songwriting credits on Chicago rapper Tobi Lou’s "Live on Ice" record. I released a full LP in 2023, showcasing creativity and musical prowess. I am eager to share my love for music, help students unlock their potential, and create beautiful tunes together! Let's groove! I have been performing as a bassist for over 18 years, and teaching for over ten years. As an instructor, I meet students where they are and tailor my teaching approach accordingly. I studied bass performance at Berklee College of Music, where I earned the Bass Department Outstanding Performer Award and Scholarship. I have a BA in English and French from Skidmore College (‘13). "After five lessons with Alex, we’ve built a solid foundation on fundamentals like footwork, shot placement, backhands, and situational serve variations. The biggest improvements I’ve noticed are in my serving and dinking. I’ve been able to apply what I’ve learned directly in challenge court play—my serves feel more effective and help set up points better, and I’ve become less predictable overall. I’m also starting to think through points more instead of just reacting. Alex has a great eye for mechanics. In our last session on movement and positioning, he helped simplify a few habits that were making me overcomplicate things. His drills are practical and translate well into real match situations. I’m very happy with my progress so far and would highly recommend Alex to anyone looking to elevate their game.
