Fred W. Layman III brings three decades of coaching experience to players of all ages and abilities. A USPTA Certified Elite Professional and USTA high-performance coach, Fred has served as director of tennis at major indoor and outdoor facilities across the country and worked with some of the nation's leading coaches and players. Fred coaches players ages five through seniors, from young beginners to Division I collegiate athletes and from first-time adult players to advanced competitors. Known for his patience and clear instruction, he emphasizes sound mechanics, strong fundamentals, and a lasting foundation in both tennis and pickleball. His approach adapts to each player's goals, experience, and pace of learning, helping students build confidence while improving their skills. Beyond individual and group instruction, Fred develops coaching curricula and facility programs, leads holiday and summer camps, and trains teaching professionals. He has also authored articles and books on coaching tennis and pickleball. Whether introducing a child to the game, helping an adult improve, or preparing a competitive athlete for the next level, Fred brings experience, encouragement, and a lifelong passion for teaching to every lesson.
