Oh and about the nickname "Danimal," it's a funny story really. About 2 months after I first started playing pickleball, I entered a tournament and had to register with the USAPA (USA Pickleball Association). On the registration form, they ask you for a nickname, which I entered "Danimal" thinking no one would ever see it. Sure enough, during my first tournament, when being called over the loudspeakers for my matches, the announcer yelled Danimal rather than my first or last name. I was embarrassed and couldn't believe it. However, while walking to the courts, everyone high-fived me and told me they loved the nickname. That weekend, I won a gold medal in Men's Singles, Mixed Doubles, and Men's Doubles completing a Triple Crown in my first tournament. Lo and behold, the nickname has stuck and is now forever
Bio: Like many others, I discovered pickleball during the Covid lockdowns as a fun pastime. What began as a casual hobby quickly transformed into a serious pursuit over the past year, culminating in my establishment as a professional-level pickleball player. Now, I am eager to spread my love and expertise for this exciting sport, sharing insights and techniques with fellow enthusiasts and aspiring players alike.
Bio: A graduate from UT Austin, I studied Finance & Real Estate with a minor in Kinesiology. Sporting endeavors have been a central part of my life, having engaged in five sports during my high school years. This early passion for sports shaped my interests and pursuits.
Presently, I'm enthusiastic about officiating high school football games on Fridays during the Fall, aspiring to be the best I can be! Beyond the athletics, I always love making new friendships and sharing stories, embodying a lifestyle focused on connecting and working with others!
Bio: My love for racquet sports started early with tennis, I even played on my high schoolβs JV team! Being active and outdoorsy has always been a big part of who I am, which probably stems from growing up in the stunning landscapes of Colorado.
After moving to Austin 12 years ago, I stumbled upon pickleball about 3 years back, and it's been a total game-changer! The fast-paced action, the social atmosphere, and the opportunity to constantly improve have made it my favorite way to stay active, challenge myself and have fun.
