I started out in 1986 by playing in high school and learning theory and jamming in a jazz improvisation class. Then I moved on to playing in various bands over the years playing metal, punk, and even blues. In 2016, I enrolled at NJCU and stared taking classical guitar lessons as well as taking music education courses as I graduated in 2020 with a degree in Music

Hi, I’m Nicholas. I play and teach fingerstyle guitar. Some say it’s the most challenging method of playing the instrument, but I say it’s the most worth learning. I can learn songs quickly, so if there’s a song you’d like to know, I could teach that, too. My goal is to teach aspiring guitar players the ability to sound how they’d want to sound on the instrument.

Hi! My name is Ryan, and I'm a musician and guitar teacher from NYC. I graduated from Lewis and Clark College in 2019 with a B.A. in Music. I have been teaching music for 10 years at all levels in a wide variety of settings. I want to help you learn the music you want to play, and give you the skills you need to become your own lifelong teacher! Together, we will create a customized curriculum informed by your musical goals and my decade of teaching experience. I teach a variety of styles and genres, including (but not limited to) rock, pop, jazz, blues, funk, R&B, soul, jazz fusion, folk, bluegrass, and hip hop. I teach encouraging lessons with curriculum drawn from my students specific musical interests, and with a focus on exploration, goal setting, and cultivating each students unique relationship with their instrument and musical selves. In-person lessons are for NYC area residents only.

I’ve been passionate about music for as long as I can remember. Over the years, I had the opportunity to play in a funk rock band, performing at various rock 'n' roll bars in New York City, which shaped my style and honed my live performance skills. My journey took a turn as I delved into jazz guitar for over five years, enriching my versatility and allowing me to blend genres creatively. In addition to guitar, I’ve played the Japanese bamboo flute for over 11 years, deepening my appreciation for traditional music. I love sharing my knowledge with others and helping students discover their own unique musical voices.

Louis Mitten is a Brooklyn-based classical guitarist and composer. Born in Tampa, Florida, Louis began playing guitar when he was eight, performing pop and rock songs around the local Tampa Bay area. Louis went to Blake High School to study classical guitar with John Parris performing solo and chamber recitals. He then went to Florida State University to complete his degree in guitar performance with Bruce Holzman and Celso Cano, teaching, performing and studying guitar pedagogy. Louis is now located in Brooklyn, performing and teaching throughout New York City and competing internationally in classical guitar competitions.

I'm a seasoned guitarist with 30 years of experience, having performed professionally and honed my craft throughout the years. I'm passionate about sharing my knowledge and love for music with aspiring guitarists of all levels. Let's embark on a rewarding musical journey together! Gary Rosenak is a guitarist, composer, educator based in New York City. He holds a BA, in Jazz Guitar Performance from Wichita State University, Masters of Music in Jazz Studies, and Advanced Certification in Teaching from NYU. He has studied guitar privately with: Peter Bernstein, Mike Moreno, and Wayne Krantz, and has studied composition and arranging privately with Gil Goldstein and Alan Ferber. Gary is an accomplished guitar instructor with 10 years of teaching experience who enjoys working with students of all ages and levels, and he cultivates a passion for music, and playing guitar through individualized tailored lessons. He has taught as an adjunct guitar instructor at New York University, and also served as a Volunteer virtual guitar instructor for Guitars4Vets, which provides music therapy healing through the joy of learning music for Veterans dealing with PTSD. Gary served as Guitarist/Band Leader and Musical Director for the US Air Force Bands in Northern California and Japan, where he also produced four Rock/Pop CD recording projects for the Air Force. Gary also performed weekly as a versatile guitarist, playing jazz, R&B and rock in the house band at the Silverado Resort in Napa, CA for over nine years. As part of the Air Force Band, Gary toured extensively in the United States, Europe, and Japan, as well as performances in Korea, Singapore, Turkey, and Bangladesh. He has also performed in such prestigious venues as the Monterey Jazz Festival, the Dresden Opera House and the Blue Note, NYC. Gary continues to perform jazz trio gigs and solo guitar gigs around NYC.

For three decades, I've been playing guitar and writing music. I have have released six professional albums and am working on my seventh. My experiences have led me to meet and work with some great musicians. I have original music of mine in TV shows, movies, and commercials. U have played all over the U.S.A. and Ireland. I am frequent performer in New York City music venues. And I have taught many students from beginning to intermediate the joys of this great instrument. I love talking music, learning more about it, and helping to spark inspiration.

I can teach you more than just playing guitar I can show you how to maintain it and record your art into the real world. CUNY certified audio. Engineering experience. Pro tools is my main recording DAW of choice.
