The first lesson focuses on assessment and fundamentals. I evaluate the athlete’s coordination, footwork, ball control, and basic understanding of the game. We establish proper athletic posture, passing platform, and movement patterns. The goal is to build comfort, confidence, and introduce volleyball in a positive, encouraging environment.
In ongoing lessons, beginners transition into more advanced fundamentals and game awareness. Sessions include faster-paced drills, improved decision-making, and position-based concepts when appropriate. The focus is on preparing athletes to confidently participate in team practices and game situations with proper technique and volleyball IQ.
From lessons four through ten, athletes begin developing stronger technique and understanding of the game. Training includes improved ball control, movement to the ball, introduction to attacking mechanics, basic defensive positioning, and simple game-like drills. Athletes are encouraged to apply skills in controlled game situations while continuing to build consistency.
Lessons two and three focus on reinforcing fundamentals and adding consistency. Athletes will work on controlled passing, basic serving technique, footwork, and simple game concepts. Drills are structured to create repetition while gradually increasing difficulty, helping athletes gain confidence and control with the ball.
The first lesson focuses on evaluation and goal setting. I assess the athlete’s technical skill, movement efficiency, volleyball IQ, and position-specific habits. We identify strengths, weaknesses, and competitive goals, then establish expectations for intensity and focus. Training begins immediately with game-relevant drills and detailed feedback.
Ongoing lessons are tailored to the athlete’s season, position, and performance goals. Training includes elite-level repetitions, tactical decision-making, and mental preparation. The focus is on maximizing performance, correcting small details, and preparing athletes to compete at the highest level available to them.
From lessons four through ten, training becomes highly competitive and position-specific. Athletes focus on advanced skill execution, reading the game, defensive systems, and offensive timing. Drills simulate match situations to improve reaction, communication, and confidence in live play.
Lessons two and three emphasize refining technique under pressure. Athletes work on tempo, footwork precision, and decision-making through high-rep, game-like drills. Sessions challenge athletes to execute skills at speed while maintaining consistency and awareness.
