I start by getting to know the athlete, their experience, and their goals. I create a comfortable and encouraging environment where they feel safe making mistakes and asking questions. We begin with a dynamic warm-up and basic volleyball movement. I introduce the fundamentals of passing, defensive positioning, and serving through simple drills. The focus is on proper technique, body control, communication, and building confidence. I finish with a fun activity and a quick review of what we learned.
The athlete will continue developing the basic skills introduced in the first lesson. We will focus on passing technique, platform control, ready position, and moving to the ball. Defensive drills will introduce reading the hitter, proper positioning, and keeping the ball in play. Serving will focus on consistency, ball toss, contact, and serving over the net. We will use simple partner drills and game-like activities to build confidence, coordination, and communication.
The athlete will begin developing more consistent skills and applying them in game-like situations. Training will focus on passing accuracy, defensive movement, digging, reading the court, and communicating with teammates. Serving will progress toward consistent overhand serves, placement, and serving to specific zones. We will introduce more challenging drills, movement patterns, and competitive activities. Each lesson will build on previous skills while improving confidence, decision-making, and overall volleyball awareness.
