Start by getting to know them, ask what they want to learn, and explain that everyone starts as a beginner and mistakes are part of learning. We will warm up by doing light stretches, then familiarity with the ball to get comfortable, then footwork and βready positionβ by shuffling in different directions first without the ball then with, then teach or try forearm passing.
The goal is to have consistency and improve on what we learned from lesson 1. First, there will be a warmup, then a review of ball control with shuffling, then forearm passing while shuffling or tossing it to different locations. We will introduce setting by self-setting, setting to a wall or to me. If possible I will introduce serving by aiming at cones or aiming at me standing in different locations each time.
Review setting, passing, and serving. I will include drills like shuffling to pass, tossing balls to different spots, digging, etc. We will end the lesson by doing a one on one fun game with the net.
Firstly, we will warm up with stretches and passing to themselves and with me. Review all motions and I will set challenges like them having to do 10 controlled passes, sets, and successful serves. We will start practicing toss, pass, and recover like in a game. We will also work on communication like yelling βmineβ when getting the passing the ball. Finally, we will do a game like drill.
