About your violin coach

Music has shaped every aspect of my life since early childhood. From the moment I first held a violin, I understood that music is not only a language of sound, but a way of connecting souls and building discipline, creativity, and emotional intelligence. My philosophy as an educator is rooted in the belief that every student, regardless of age or skill level, possesses a unique musical voice waiting to be nurtured. My mission is to guide each of them toward discovering that voice through inspiration, respect, and structured artistic growth. Throughout my professional journey—as a soloist, concertmaster, and mentor—I have learned that technical mastery and emotional expression must develop together. In my classroom, I emphasize the balance between precision and passion: scales and etudes coexist with expressive phrasing, listening, and ensemble collaboration. I encourage students to set high standards, yet to approach challenges with curiosity and patience. Mistakes are treated not as failures but as opportunities to refine understanding and resilience.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI start by getting to know the student—how they learn, their goals, and any prior musical experience. Then we cover posture, how to hold the violin and bow, and make our first simple sounds. I keep it relaxed and fun so they leave feeling confident.
Lesson 11+We build on all core skills—better tone, intonation, and musical expression. Students learn longer pieces, new scales, and more bowing styles. At this stage they start sounding more confident and ā€œviolin-like,ā€ with lessons tailored to their goals.
Lesson 4-10We work on smoother bow control, clearer intonation, and reading beginner-level music. Students start learning a few real pieces, basic rhythms, and simple scales. Progress feels more noticeable here as technique becomes steadier.
Lesson 2-3I start by getting to know the student—how they learn, their goals, and any prior musical experience. Then we cover posture, how to hold the violin and bow, and make our first simple sounds. I keep it relaxed and fun so they leave feeling confident.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonI assess the student’s current technique, musical goals, and repertoire. We review fundamentals—bow control, intonation, posture—and identify specific areas to refine. Then we choose a piece or technical focus to start with.
Lesson 11+Lessons become highly personalized—preparing for performances, auditions, or advanced repertoire. We emphasize interpretation, consistency, and professional-level technique. Students can expect steady refinement and deeper musical understanding.
Lesson 4-10We focus on polishing challenging pieces, improving musical phrasing, and tackling difficult techniques (double stops, fast passages, advanced bow strokes). Students also work on scales, arpeggios, and etudes suited to their level.
Lesson 2-3We dive into targeted technical work: advanced shifting, vibrato refinement, bowing clarity, and tone shaping. Students can expect detailed feedback and drills that support their chosen repertoire.

Youth players
Working with kidsI keep lessons fun, active, and encouraging. We use simple songs, rhythm games, and short exercises to build good habits without overwhelming them. I focus on patience, clear instructions, and celebrating small wins to keep them excited about learning.

Working with teenagersWith teens, I balance solid technique with music they enjoy. I give more independence—goal-setting, choosing pieces, and understanding why certain techniques matter. Lessons are supportive, flexible, and geared toward building confidence and real musical expression.

What you need to bringStudents need to provide their own violin and bow.

What I can bringI bring my own violin and music, music is chosen to fit the student I’m teaching.

ā€œI started as a complete beginner and was nervous, but these lessons have been amazing. Everything is explained so clearly, and the pace feels perfect. I love how patient and encouraging Tim is. Every week I feel myself improving. I never thought I’d enjoy learning the violin this much. Highly recommend!ā€
