About your tennis coach

I was born in Romania and started tennis at age 6, was consistently ranked among SoCal's top 100 juniors in every age group from the 12s through the 18s. Also attained a national junior ranking and a high ranking of #74 in the SoCal Men's Open Singles division. Played #5 singles for College of the Desert during the 2010 season, reaching the CA state semifinals in our division. Played in qualifying at a number of ITF Futures events. Achieved a UTR Rating of 10. Extensive junior teaching experience, taught daily (Mon-Sat) junior clinics for beginners and intermediate kids at the Plaza Racquet Club in Palm Springs between September 2012 and June 2016. Also taught at Cathedral Canyon Country Club since 2010 and The Parker Hotel in Palm Springs since 2018.

Coach Vlad is great, our two kids (now 10 and 8) have been taking lessons from him for a couple of years and their progress has been amazing! Plus the kids are having a lot of fun, tennis has become their favorite after-school activity!!

Excellent first lesson with Vladimir. He focused in on what we needed with forehand and backhand. Perfect tempo for a lesson with two - good workout and time flew by. Very pleasant, answered questions, corrected technique - had us watch each other for improvement as well as great demos from him. Great explanations and demos appropriate to our skill level - look forward to more!

Your first lessonForehand and backhand fundamentals
Lesson 11+By this point, student should be able to rally a few shots from the baseline, we will continue to work on refining accuracy, technique and footwork in order to progress towards an intermediate level when the player can not only rally, but actually play competitively with scoring.
Lesson 4-10We will gradually introduce new shots (serve, volleys) and improve footwork and body positioning as well as learning how to use spin.
Lesson 2-3Further refinement of fundamentals.
Youth players
Working with kidsFor kids, it is important for lessons to be fun, they are not as patient as adults and tedious repetition is often boring for them. The more they enjoy tennis, the quicker they will improve.
Working with teenagersDepends on their goals - The approach to teaching competitive juniors who play USTA tournaments and have lofty goals is different than beginning teens who just want to learn tennis for fun or to make their high school team.
