I recently was hired on and coached the JV girls at Brookfield Academy and was a hitting partner for the girls varsity team there that won their first ever state title this year. I'm a 4.0 USTA player also.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI first observe them hit a ball from both sides then take a look at how they are holding the racquet. After that I slowly start tweaking things and have them hit the closest to how they feel comfortable and slowly go from there.
Lesson 11+I will get more into serving with proper knee bend, weight transfer and follow through. I hope to then play short sets to 4 and have them work on match toughness so nerves are not a factor in an actual match.
Lesson 4-10At this point the player should be tapping the ball back a little more consistently so some lessons I will focus on giving them a little more pace. The other lessons I will put more concentration into the proper grip so they can start getting use to putting topspin on the ball. There will be more concentration on serving with emphasis on a good ball toss and an intro to proper pronation. More volleying with emphasis on stepping the right way, having racquet in front, and knee bend.
Lesson 2-3I will start implementing a little bit of movement as I gently tap the ball to them. Once they demonstrate they can tap the ball back to me using either a continental or basic forehand grip I do the same to the backhand. Intro to serving and volleying at the end.
Youth players
Working with kidsMake it more fun maybe use foam balls more often otherwise business as usual.
Working with teenagersSame as kids minus foam balls maybe a little more drill oriented as well.
