About your tennis coach

With 16 years of dedicated experience on the court, I've established myself as a formidable force in tennis. I have coached at multiple facilities across placer county (lifetime athletic, Youth league tennis, Kassier Sports, etc.) As a varsity player for four years, I not only showcased my skills but also assumed the role of team captain, leading my teammates to victory. I've competed in UTR matches throughout my tennis journey, demonstrating my competitive edge and commitment to the sport. From the courts of Sierra View to Johnson Ranch, I've honed my craft in various settings, each contributing to my growth as a player. Additionally, my tenure with the Qatari Tennis Federation further enriched my understanding of the game and allowed me to represent my country on an international level.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI start by creating a welcoming, low-pressure environment where beginners feel comfortable. I introduce myself, learn their goals and any prior experience, then begin with basic racket handling and hand-eye coordination exercises using soft balls or foam balls. I teach the continental grip for volleys and Eastern forehand grip, then we practice shadow swings before hitting any balls. I keep it fun with simple target games and short rallies from the service line. By the end of lesson one, students leave feeling accomplished having hit successful shots and understanding that tennis is approachable and enjoyable.
Lesson 11+After lesson 10, students are ready to refine their game and develop their own playing style. We work on advanced shot-making like topspin, slice, volleys, and overheads. I introduce strategic concepts like constructing points, exploiting opponent weaknesses, and adapting tactics mid-match. Conditioning and footwork drills become more rigorous to build stamina and speed. Students participate in more competitive match play, receive video analysis of their strokes, and set specific performance goals (tournaments, school team tryouts, or league play). My focus shifts to helping them become independent, confident players who love the game and continue improving on their own.
Lesson 4-10During lessons 4-10, students transition from drills to actual rally practice and point play. We refine stroke technique, work on consistency and depth control, and introduce court positioning and shot selection. I teach basic doubles and singles strategy, including when to approach the net and how to cover the court. Serving becomes more polished with spin introduction, and we add return of serve practice. Students begin playing practice points and mini-matches to apply their skills in real situations. I also emphasize sportsmanship, scorekeeping, and match etiquette so they're ready for competitive play or league participation.
Lesson 2-3In lessons 2-3, we build on grip fundamentals and introduce basic footwork patterns. Students learn the ready position, split step, and how to move efficiently to the ball. We practice forehand and backhand groundstrokes from the baseline with consistent feeding, focusing on contact point and follow-through. I introduce simple rally drills where students hit 5-10 balls in a row, building their confidence and muscle memory. We also start basic serving mechanics learning he trophy position and toss placement. Each lesson ends with a fun game or challenge to reinforce what they've learned.
