Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI go over the fundamentals of how to hit your backhand and forehand. Making sure the grip, contact point, swing path, and follow through are correct.
Lesson 2-3I drill this over and over until I see you no longer have to think about the steps required to hit a forehand and a backhand.
Lesson 4-10Once this becomes a little bit moe natural, I will start teaching how to serve, return, and volley. While adding movement/footwork required to hit forehands and backhands.
Lesson 11+From here you should be able to hit a few shots back and forth with a friend or family member. If not, then more repetition is required and that’s ok! Everyone learns at their own pace.
Youth players
Working with kidsDepending on the age, personality, and athletic ability I try to connect with the kids how they like to be spoken too. Then work on challenging them to learn as well as have fun with tennis.
Working with teenagersI like to get to know why they want to learn tennis and what they want out of it. Then I go from there and build their skill set while having fun playing tennis.
