Beginner training plan
Your first lesson- Get to know each other
- Using short court reveals a lot about a players game
- Gradually make our way around all the strokes to figure out what is there and what needs work
- All of this while I am also hitting with the student
Lesson 11+- continuation of before with emphasis on points
Possibly play some practice games/sets if player desires
Lesson 4-10- Spend more time working on working on singular strokes during lessons to build muscle memory
- Start addressing more point construction
Lesson 2-3Try out different drills to figure what works with a player
- Address problems that occurred in first lesson
- Do a deep dive into the mechanics of strokes that need work
- Finish with a few points
Youth players
Working with kidsI will be very patient and start with the basics, especially footwork
Working with teenagersI have taught teenagers in the past. I’m usually very patient, but I will tell them if something needs improvement. Working with all age groups but especially younger students is a building process, so anything we work on in one lesson will most likely be carried on over into the next. Any student that wants to be there, I can work and build with.
