Beginner training plan
Your first lessonN/A

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonFirst and foremost I think it’s important to emphasize that this is a collaboration and so the first thing we do is TALK. What do you like about your game? We would first warm-up and what is your vision for your playing style? Anything you hate doing or that makes you really uncomfortable? Then we hit/serve. I need to see your base level and tendencies. I then share with you my observations about strengths, needed improvements, and overall effectiveness of your preferred style of play… or equally fun, we find/develop your best style of play. Just remember, although this can be a frustrating sport, never forget the FUN
Lesson 11+By this time we should be utilizing the “new”/refined technique regularly and with minimal thought. We drop the structure so much and see if you can deploy said technique improvisationally within the flow of tennis games and sets. Also it’s important to change up the focus; at this point let’s just have fun and let that guide where to take your game next! How’s your tweener shot?
Lesson 4-10At this advanced level, we will need to concentrate on one action or limited sequences of actions at a time. The margins for improvement are smaller so we must really repeat and drive improvements to the point of unconscious execution
Lesson 2-3Commensurate on what we identify as the personalized plan for improvement e.g. if you want to be a backboard, but have inefficient footwork most lessons will emphasize hitting and dynamic footwork.

Youth players
Working with teenagersFor intermediate teens, the emphasis should be on refining fundamentals through practical challenges. In small groups this could mean working on the details of a ground stroke repeatedly….then letting the instruction go and playing practice games e.g. king of the court, Canadian doubles, etc., incorporating the practiced shot. For individuals similar standards apply but it would necessarily be more physically demanding with emphasis on footwork and execution of shots in various circumstances e.g. forehand approaches.

What you need to bringAppropriate shoes, clothes, and preferred racquet. Towel and water not required and not provided but recommended

What I can bringRacquets, balls, hopper, warm-up bands, AP Belt (high intermediate/advanced players only)
