About your tennis coach

I help beginners and improving players build clean fundamentals, better footwork, and real confidence on court. My lessons are clear, encouraging, and structured so you improve fast without feeling overwhelmed. I’m a medical student focused on sports medicine. I lost 80 pounds of fat by playing tennis and built real athleticism along the way. I coach beginners to intermediates with a biomechanics-first approach: I’m all about footwork, placement and positioning, timing, and joint-friendly power. First lesson includes a quick assessment, 1 to 2 key fixes, and a drill plan for your next solo hit.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonQuick goals chat and movement check. Grip and ready position setup. Simple contact point and swing path for forehand and backhand. Hand feed and short court rally drills. Serve toss basics and a safe, repeatable motion. You leave with 2 clear focus points and a 10 minute practice plan.
Lesson 11+Personalized plan based on your goals. Fix the one skill limiting your match play. Increase pace and consistency under pressure. More situational drilling: break points, tiebreaks, return games. If you want, add strength and mobility habits to support your tennis and reduce flare ups.
Lesson 4-10Build rally tolerance from the baseline with consistent depth. Add topspin and height control for safer margins. Develop a dependable second serve and a simple first serve target. Introduce approach shots, volleys, and overheads. Learn basic patterns: serve plus one, crosscourt to open court, attack short balls. Match skills: scoring, singles positioning, and simple tactics.
Lesson 2-3Footwork foundations: split step, first step, and spacing. Forehand and backhand consistency with targets. Directional control: crosscourt first, then down the line. Return basics off an easy serve. Intro to volleys at the net. We start light point play from short court to baseline.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonAssess your game with live rallying, serves, and point play. Identify the one or two patterns breaking down under pressure. Set a clear plan for shot tolerance, footwork, and decision making.
Lesson 11+Personalized training for match goals. Sharpen the specific weakness limiting your results. Build a more reliable serve, return, and pressure game.
Lesson 4-10Develop point construction based on your strengths. Train depth, direction, pace changes, and net transition choices. Use live-ball drills and match play to improve execution under pressure.
Lesson 2-3Refine serve mechanics, return positioning, and first-ball patterns. Improve recovery steps, spacing, and balance on aggressive balls. Build repeatable crosscourt and down-the-line patterns.

Youth players
Working with kidsI keep lessons simple, active, and fun. We use short games and quick drills to build hand eye coordination, balance, and basic footwork. I give one main cue at a time and celebrate small wins. Safety comes first, with light balls when needed, plenty of water breaks, and a positive tone that builds confidence.

Working with teenagersI coach teens with a mix of structure and ownership. We set clear goals, track progress, and connect technique to performance, like consistency, depth, and serve reliability. I teach efficient biomechanics to build power without overuse issues. Lessons include focused drilling plus point play, so skills transfer to matches.

Sabrina
I struggled with my serve for the longest time. That changed finally when I got lessons from Arjan. He analyed how I currently hit so as to maximally help improve my serve and return without overcomplicating. I could finally toss the ball for a clean serve after many many drills! Highly recommended

Arjan has a calm, encouraging style. His lessons felt gentle and powerful. I gained confidence once we started rallying really good. He gave me lovely pointers about where my feet should be and how to swing

I’m a college athlete for a different sport and wanted to try tennis for the longest time. I was genuinely impressed with my experience. Arjan is very upbeat and encouraging the whole lesson without being cloying. He kept me feeling relaxed and not stressed, which helped me hit better right away. He explained things simply when they went wrong and celebrated my progress in a way that didn’t feel disingenuous or without hype. I left feeling all motivated and excited to practice.
Arturo
Arjan is fun to play with because he explains technique in a way that makes sense fast. He focused on my footwork, spacing, and contact point, and it helped my timing a lot. He’s patient and attentive and I feel like he always keeps the lesson moving at a good pace. Great coach for beginners who want actual progress.
Stephany
I really enjoyed how Arjan is organized and super focused. He started with a quick assessment, then picked a couple of changes that made the biggest difference. I Am a total noob but I honestly felt like The drills were simple but effective. he explained what to feel in my hands and body so I could selfcorrect
