In the first lesson with a beginner, we will go over the appropriate way to hold the tennis racket, and your stance. Understanding how your body needs to move to create a good stroke is important. We will go over shuffling, and the correct stance. I will show you how to swing your racket with forehand and backhand. Then towards the end of the lesson we will do some forehands and backhands with a lightly tossed ball.
By lesson 11+ you will be a confident player who can hit ground strokes from various spots on the court. Once you are confident in your strokes we will then focus on aim and speed. Helping you guide the ball cross court, aiming for certain corners and spots on the court. We will continue to up the speed of the ball you hit, and really hone in on your serving skills.
From your fourth to tenth lesson, you can expect to have learned the basic skills of tennis. We will have gone over game play, how to score, the lines of the courts and what they mean, and the difference between singles and doubles. Additionally, you will start to learn net play, I will instruct you on how to hold the racket for volleys at the net while continuing on our ground strokes. You will learn how to serve the ball and the appropriate strategy to getting it in the box.
At the second and third lesson we will continue to develop the forehand and backhand strokes. As the player becomes comfortable, I will toss the balls a little faster.
