Beginner training plan
Your first lessonCourt orientation and grips for serve, ground stroke, and volley. Cover forehand and backhand swings followed by a few warm up games.
Lesson 11+Refine tactics and introduce mental training focus. Point play, fitness and conditioning drills, and personalized feedback on strengths and weaknesses.
Lesson 4-10Refine forehand, backhand, serve, and volley with pace and spin. Introduce slice and topspin if needed. Practice consistently rallying from baseline and net play. Begin point play in controlled setting.
Lesson 2-3Focus on forehand, backhand, serving fundamentals, introduce volleys, and hand-eye coordination drills. Introduce scoring, match play rules, and etiquette if needed.
Youth players
Working with kidsFocus on building trust and connection by being approachable and kind but firm with boundaries. I try to show genuine interest in each students personality and progress, praise effort more than the outcome, and make the lessons fun!
Working with teenagersTry to build respect instead of authority. I treat them like young adults, be consistent and fair, and set clear expectations. I try to be as relatable as I can with humor and shared interests to show my personality to them as well. Also I think it’s important to focus on purpose and progress as well as teach mental and emotional resilience which are all skills that will help them going forward.
