The first private will vary with difficulty depending on age. But to sum it up it would look a little something like:
1: introduced and Safety chat (I want to make sure weβre comfortable with each other before getting started)
2:Water Comfort Assessment (Just a real quick assessment to see where your at and so I can know where exactly to start with you)
3:Staying Afloat Skills (Depending on skill level)
4: Kicking and Movement Techniques
5:Fun Challenge and Review
In summary, for the first one Iβll aim for 25% assessment, 50% Skill Practice, and 25% fun, confidence building. To me, a successful first lesson isnβt βlearning freestyleβ. Itβs having the swimmer leave feeling safe, successful, and excited to come back.
Session 2 Goal: Water confidence & Basic Propulsion
1:Warm-up 2:Body Positioning 3:kicking 4:introduction to freestyle 5:fun challenge/game
Success marker:Comfortable moving independently for short distances and confidence to stay afloat.
Session 3 Goal: Put together beginner freestyle and basic backstroke
1:Warm-up 2:freestyle progression 3:backstroke basics 4:endurance & confidence 5:review and goal setting
For lessons 4-10, think less about exact lesson plans and more about progressive milestones. Iβll adjust based on how quickly the swimmer learns. Here are some basic goals for the lessons.
4: Swimmer can move independently using basic freestyle (not long distances)
5:Swimmer can swim longer distances with fewer interruptions.
6: Backstroke development so swimmer has two ways to travel through the water
7: Increased safety and independence in the water
8: Endurance, swimmer can sustain swimming for longer periods
9:confidence in treading
10: Review and Assess
Lessons 11+ will differ with the swimmers progression.
If theyβre still struggling, Iβll continue building their abilities and skills with breathing, endurance, techniques, treading, deep water confidence, and water safety skills.
If theyβre swimming independently and confidently, Iβll focus on better body positioning, efficient kicking, freestyle and backstroke timing, streamline push-offs, and wall turns.
Each private will be a little different depending on age, and ability. Lesson 1 will start off will assessment lesson. It will go something like:

Lesson 2: Technique (depending on what you need work on the lessons will change to your needs)
1:Warm up 2:Drill work 3: Main Sets 4:Sprint/distance work 5: cool down
Lesson 3 Goal: Strength building

Lesson 4: Breating and Efficiency
Lesson 5: Starts and Breakouts
Lesson 6: Flip turns and walls
Lesson 7: Stroke Techniques
Lesson 8: IM Skills and transitions
Lesson 9: Race strategy
Lesson 10: Program assessment
We will go in whichever direction the swimmer needs to go with stroke-specific work, refinement, advanced skills, and conditioning sets.
