About your swimming coach
I have been swimming from the time I was an infant in "Mommy-n-Me" classes, to more recently as a swim coach at pools such as Goldfish Swim School and Camp Mary Orton, with experience teaching kids from ages 3 months- 15 years old. I'm a certified lifeguard with Red Cross, with CPR, AED, and First Aid skills, and a certified swim instructor with a WSI, so your kids will be in safe hands. My favorite skills to teach are advanced strokes such as butterfly and breaststroke, but I can teach all swim skills with just as much enthusiasm!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson will consist of a skill assessment and learning water safety.
Lesson 11+After learning freestyle, we will work on introducing the other strokes (starting with backstroke), and more advanced techniques such as treading and proper limb placement.
Lesson 4-10We will be working on refining freestyle and breathing techniques, as well as continuing our water safety.
Lesson 2-3The next couple lessons, we will work from basic techniques such as floating, freestyle, and how to breathe while swimming. We will still be working on water safety.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson will consist of a skill assessment, where I will assess the swimmer's strokes, and see where there is room for improvement. We will start with working on the easy strokes: freestyle and backstroke.
Lesson 11+We will continue working on all four strokes, and we will start learning more advanced techniques, such as flip turns.
Lesson 4-10We will start with checking progress on freestyle and backstroke, but the majority of the lesson will be focused on the advanced strokes.
Lesson 2-3We will continue working on freestyle and backstroke refinement, and possibly introduce breaststroke and butterfly, depending on skill level.
Youth players
Working with kidsI love working with kids, and there is rarely a child who I can't work with. I have worked with nonverbal kids, kids with anxiety, autism, down syndrome, and all sorts of mood disorders. I try to present myself as an authority figure who can connect with kids and have fun while we are simultaneously learning, incorporating games and challenges in my lessons.
Working with teenagersI like to plan my lessons with teenagers with a more laid-back approach, as this is an emotional time in their life, and learning how to swim can be a sensitive topic. Most older kids learn at a faster pace, so I have no problem with taking social breaks in my lessons to make the kids feel comfortable with me. I will pace the lesson however fast or slow it needs to be for your teenager to learn best.
What you need to bringYou should bring: swimsuit, towel, preferably your own goggles, flippers, water bottle.
What I can bringFor swim lessons, I can bring: kickboards, barbells, buoys, goggles (but I would prefer you to bring your own goggles)
