For the first lesson, my focus is on creating a safe, supportive, and exciting introduction to surfing. I start by building trust and confidence on land using Wave Ki fundamentals covering ocean awareness, board safety, positioning, and a step-by-step breakdown of paddling and pop-up technique. Iโm very hands-on during this stage, giving clear demonstrations, gentle corrections, and encouragement throughout. In the water, I stay close and guide each wave, helping students feel successful early while reinforcing Wave Ki principles like flow, breath, and timing. My goal is for every beginner to leave their first lesson smiling, empowered, and believing they can surf.
For lessons eleven and beyond, my coaching becomes highly customized. Students are now building their own surf style, and I use Wave Ki principles to help refine technique, improve flow, and deepen their connection to the ocean. Whether the focus is wave reading, performance turns, confidence in bigger surf, or simply having more fun, Iโm fully present and committed to their growth. I take pride in mentoring surfers long-term and genuinely care about their journey. My goal is to guarantee continued progress while helping each student fall in love with surfing in a way that lasts a lifetime.
From lessons four through ten, students experience real progression. At this stage, I help surfers transition from โriding wavesโ to truly surfing them. Using Wave Ki methodology, we work on trimming, turning, speed control, positioning, and reading changing conditions. I stay very hands-on, offering detailed coaching, personalized drills, and confidence-building challenges that push students just beyond their comfort zone. My passion really shines here I celebrate breakthroughs, help students overcome fear, and guarantee theyโre developing the skills needed to surf more independently and consistently.
During lessons two and three, we begin refining the foundations while building consistency and confidence. I continue implementing Wave Ki training by focusing on efficient paddling, wave selection, proper stance, and balance. This stage is very interactive I provide real-time feedback in the water, adjust techniques on the spot, and tailor drills to each studentโs learning style. We start introducing gentle turns, better pop-up flow, and reading the ocean more independently. Iโm deeply invested in my studentsโ progress and make sure they understand why each movement matters, setting them up for long-term improvement.
