With over 25 years immersed in the joy of wave riding, I offer a knowledge base acquired from a wide variety of surfing experiences and countless time in the ocean. I specialize in the beginner to intermediate level while tailoring surfing instruction to fit your level of comfort and ability. Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe will first have a casual conversation so I can get to know you and understand your comfort level with the ocean. This will include assessing your individual skill level and any previous surfing experience. From there we can go forward building on what you already know. Most importantly, we wonât rush you into anything youâre not comfortable with. Weâll start with basics on the sand, covering physical as well as mental parts of wave riding. From the sand weâll move to the water when youâre ready. We will have as much fun as possible while elevating your skills and knowledge. Iâll send you home with some basic âdry landâ exercises to help with muscle memory.
Lesson 2-3These will consist of some refreshers on the beach then spend most of the time in the water. Repetition is key in these earlier lessons. I will probably be pushing/helping you to catch white water or crumbling smaller waves as you improve your paddling and balancing. Weâll also cover your timing along with the overall judging of waves.
What you need to bringIf you have and want to bring your own board and wetsuit thatâs great, same with sunscreen and water.
What I can bringI can bring a soft top board as well as others depending on your skill level. I also have some wetsuits. I can bring sunscreen and water if needed. I also have a California State parking pass if we choose one of those locations. I can also provide some shade as an option.
