I couldn’t have asked for a better surfing guide than Jamie. He introduced me to several different breaks that I never surfed before and a lot of insightful pointers that improved my surfing. It was apparent that Jamie was super thoughtful as to where we surfed every day to make sure conditions were the best. I would definitely recommend Jamie to anyone coming to the North Shore and wants a proper surf guide.

My 9 year old daughter has taken lessons with Jamie starting at 6 years old. We have come to the North Shore 5-6 times and the highlight of her trip each time has always been her lessons with Jamie. He is a calm, kind, and patient teacher who has steadily improved her surfing while bolstering her confidence. She has done 5 consecutive days of lessons with Jamie this trip and she is hoping for one last one tomorrow. Looking forward to our next trip and more lessons with Jamie.

Things happen for a reason...
I just happened to bump into Jamie and one of his clients at Sunset after barely being on the island a couple days from Alaska for my 2nd winter season of surfing North Shore.
His client told me Jamie's a great guide if I need one.
So I went on with my business and practicing surfing.
I've only been surfing for a little over a year and worked my way up in size, tried Sunset on my own, and let's just say I knew I needed help.
And I remembered that things happen for a reason.
So I called Jamie and he graciously chatted with me a couple times.
And then we set up a time at Sunset.
On Christmas Eve.
And he helped me catch not just one, but multiple waves...
The biggest, fastest, and cleanest waves I've ever caught so far...
And helped me every step of the wave 😉
Absolutely incredible. Fantastic coach. And excellent waterman. He's truly one of the best.

Jamie was an excellent surf guide. It’s been always my dream to surf in North Shore and he guided me to the best spot and waves which matches to my exact level of surfing. It was surely an amazing experience for me.

Jamie is a true waterman and a great instructor! I did the tow in tour and even though the waves were 2-3x the size I usually paddle out in I felt super safe with him. His intuition for the ocean and specifically the spots on the north shore is unmatched. He gave me a time and day well ahead of time and the forecasted conditions ended up being great albeit a bit choppy.
We started with training on how to get on/off the sled, and then how to wait for & pick up the rope, which takes some practice (don't forget you're supposed to say 'clear' when you're ready in position it totally slipped my mind lol), and then eventually we were up and riding. Heads up it is *really* physically demanding, but pro tip I think my issue was I kept my arms bent too much which I was told was using a lot of my energy.
He towed me into a few waves, and placed me perfectly each time of course (not too deep but not too far out). There were some false starts I had to start learning to turn immediately to make sure I didn't lose speed. In the end though I was able to get 2 amazing rides before I had to tap out on account of being exhausted. I was so stoked after the last ride, truly one of the most memorable epic experiences i've ever had!
Big thanks to Jamie for being a patient instructor while I was learning the ropes (no pun intended). Plus on the times where i'd end up caught inside after a wave, he was always there to pick me up, and expertly navigate the incoming set while we looked for the board in case I lost it. You couldn't ask for a better guide for this tour, he's one of probably a handful of people in the world with this much big wave experience especially here on the north shore, and it shows. Now stop hesitating and book a tour already!
