In the first lesson, I focus on building a strong foundation in throwing and catching. We start with proper warm-ups and then move into basic mechanics—grip, throwing stance, and step-through motion. I introduce basic catching drills like partner toss and soft glove work to build confidence and coordination. The goal is to ensure they feel successful early while learning the fundamentals safely and correctly.
From lesson 11 onward, I tailor each session to focus on the specific areas where the athlete needs the most growth. For some, that may mean refining throwing accuracy or working on quicker glove transitions; for others, it may mean improving swing mechanics, timing, or pitch recognition. I incorporate more advanced drills, simulated game situations, and consistent feedback to target those areas and boost confidence. At this stage, players are developing into more complete athletes, and the training becomes more personalized to help them reach their full potential.
By this stage, we continue to strengthen throwing accuracy, introduce simple footwork for fielding grounders, and move into more advanced hitting drills. Players will progress from tee and soft toss to front toss and controlled live pitching. We’ll also begin introducing situational awareness (e.g., where to throw the ball in a game) and the mental side of the game. Each lesson builds on the last to create well-rounded, confident young players who are ready to succeed on the field.
In lessons 2 and 3, we reinforce throwing and catching fundamentals and begin to introduce basic hitting mechanics. Players will learn how to hold the bat, proper stance, and how to track the ball into the zone. We’ll use tee work and soft toss drills to build consistency and confidence at the plate. Each session includes repetition, positive feedback, and mini-games to keep it fun and engaging.
