Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFor my beginners I like to get a baseline level on where they are hitting, fielding, throwing wise. I will ask them if they have any experience playing softball and if they have any knowledge of the sport. We will start with general mechanics such as throwing form, hitting stance, and proper fielding position. As we move through these different skills we will do drills along the way!
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonFor my advanced players we will go through the motions of a warmup on game day. Depending on what I notice we will do certain drills involving hitting/fielding.
Youth players
Working with kidsI like to take a slow pace with kids. I want to be at a pace where they can understand and perform what we are doing in the lesson. I really like to use terms/references they can easily grasp.
Working with teenagersWith teens I move at a quicker pace. Teenagers tend to understand what I’m explaining and are able to do what drill I am having them perform. At any moment if my student needs extra clarification I will break it down further until it gets to a level they fully understand.
