In the first lesson, I focus on assessing the player’s current skill level, introducing basic fundamentals, and building confidence. We start with a warm-up and light ball work, followed by simple dribbling, passing, and control drills. I also emphasize foot positioning, body mechanics, and balance to establish a solid foundation. The session ends with a review of key takeaways and setting goals for future lessons.
Players will transition into more advanced drills that simulate real-game situations. The focus will be on:
• Game intelligence (reading plays, making quick decisions)
• Combination play (give-and-go, overlaps, and switching the field)
• Defensive shape and attacking strategies
• Increased intensity scrimmages to reinforce skills under pressure
At this stage, players should feel confident in their abilities and be able to execute key skills with greater speed, control, and awareness.
By this stage, players will develop consistency in their technical skills and start applying them in small-sided drills and game-like situations. Key focus areas include:
• Passing accuracy and movement off the ball
• First touch improvement
• Basic tactical awareness (positioning, spacing, and decision-making)
• Confidence in 1v1 situations
• Shooting technique and finishing
Sessions will involve progressive drills, controlled scrimmages, and fitness conditioning to enhance overall endurance and agility.
In these sessions, we begin reinforcing the fundamentals learned in the first lesson while introducing new skills like turning with the ball, basic shooting mechanics, and simple 1v1 attacking and defending techniques. Players will also work on spatial awareness and positioning, gradually increasing intensity and ball control under pressure.
