First get to know them, teach them the proper stretches to prevent injuries and simple cone footwork to get them used to drills and become more comfortable with there feet, as well as some dribbling and turning.
Now it’s motivating, it’s all about letting them know mistakes are fine and it happens to everyone, effort is amazing, we will now move on to doing more reps, some condition work, knowing the limit for them & putting everything together in a big drill that will end in either a defending or finishing point (depending on players position), making sure this is all fun and still productive at the same time! I’m here for it all!
Now it’s about adding all that plus defending, attacking, and making the speed of all the drills a little bit faster every-time, we can now run more drills with more reps, coordinating ur feet when defending and concentrating on ur footwork when dribbling, overall this helps someone get way more comfortable and used to the ball with the more repetitions.
Now we can work on short passes and slowly advance to a bit longer, focus on the accuracy and speed, while adding the dribbling and footwork/cone-work, we’ll start to see progress without putting to much pressure or stress, easing up and feeling confident with reps is important!
Ask them what they think there strong assets are and what they think there weak assets are, challenge them but also get them comfortable and more reps with what they like while still focusing on what they can improve on.
