Beginner training plan
Your first trainingThe very first thing I will do is ask you to dribble the ball around and then Maybe pass the ball to me a few times. My aim is to make you comfortable with the ball. We can go through a few simple activities that will help you with this. I will go at your pace not mine! If you can’t understand something you are asked to do then stop and ask me? , β€œhey coach, how can I do that” By building up the skills little by little you will eventually be comfortable on and with the ball. That is one of the hardest things to learn . After that, it’s all just plain sailing πŸ₯±πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Training 2-3Now I know your skill Level I will design activities to help you perfect what you can do already at a higher level. If there is one area you really want to work on we can add that to the activity. Always important to remember that you as a player need to practice at home as much as possible in between training times? The more touches you can have on the ball the better. This is something that can really help you progress and there are several ways we can achieve this. After the first lesson I will be constantly be assessing and re assessing your skill levels in all areas. Depending on the age group being taught I can adapt or adjust the skill levels accordingly.
Training 4-10Hopefully by now we have brought you up to the basic levels of skill required to play the game? Just simple things like passing and receiving the ball. Dribbling and shooting. By lesson 10 I would hope to have most if not all of the basic skills down and set. If not we will need to go over some of the previous activities and see if we can adjust them to suit your own particular needs.
Training 11+Once we have the basic skills established it’s fun time! Learning the basics can be hard, especially if the player has never played before at any level. If the basic skills are adequate then we can begin to teach more refined skills which will help the player win 1 on 1 situations, or by making them More spatially aware allowing them to make the killer passes you see the pros perform every week? Being able to communicate quickly and easily with your team players is vital to successful play. In short once we have the basics down we can turn to more advanced skills and more use of the brain as well as the body!

Advanced training plan
Your first trainingIf the player is what we would call an advanced player we can quickly move on from the basic skills of dribbling and passing and receiving to harder dibbling skills and the shooting skills that would be needed for let’s say a free kick situation or corner kicks? Establishing where the player is right now is crucial to setting goals that are both reachable And practical for the player? Once I have that information, I can plan for lessons 2/3.
Training 2-3Based on what we learned from our first lesson and taking into account what it is that the player wants to concentrate on I will then set out a plan for the next few training sessions. There are so many possibilities that it’s hard to narrow it down until we are actually training together in person but! There are some skills that a midfield or forward player is more Likely to use than a Centre or full back player. There are also skills such as heading the ball that are important for both attacking and defensive players? Once we have a clear picture of what the player needs we can formulate a plan to reach those goals.
Training 4-10The advanced player is not only going to need the physical skills to develop into a good soccer player? They also need the mental skills to match their physical ability? One without the other will not bring them the success they require.
Training 11+By now we will have established the following key points? 1. What is the players current skill Level. 2 what is it exactly, that the player is trying to improve and develop? 3. A plan that sets out in simple understandable Language the different steps they will need to take to achieve their desired improvements. 4 . Ensure that the player fully understands the connection between playing the game and being mentally aware and focused on the end goal. This is an ongoing process but once they have improved enough in training it will be time to put that training to the test in a real, competitive game environment.

Youth players
Working with kidsKids mostly want to have fun at an early age. So between ages 3/6 we need to make the games and activity’s we do be fun while at helping them learn about the fundamentals of soccer? Making them all stand together and ask them what they all look like? Chickens! You all Look like a bunch of happy chickens all bunched up and in one group! That’s not how we can play soccer! We need to spread out. These are the baby steps that will eventually make sense to them but unless we can make it fun as well as informative the players will soon lose interest.basic skills like passing dribbling and shooting can be learned while still having fun ! But just having fun will not help them Learn so a balance has to be found that works for all of them.

Working with teenagersTeenagers are a challenge! Luckily for the ones I teach I was one of them, once too! There will be times coaching teenagers that you may feel like walking away from the field but as coaches I believe we have an obligation to try everything we possibly can to help the players achieve their goals And improve and develop as we go. There is an upside to teenagers? Most of the time they really want to know how to do stuff! So showing them a new skill or perhaps explaining about the tactics of defending and how we actually go about defending can suddenly light the blue touch paper that ignites their imagination and dreams. Once we have engaged and focused teens we have an almost unstoppable force which correctly handled can help them develop Into awesome players and even better individuals. Teens are very good at telling you what they think you want to hear! So, being aware of this and other traits of a β€˜typical teen’ is important and can’t be allowed to get In the way of their progress and Ambitions. I’m always very direct and honest with the players I coach. They will always have an honest and fair appraisal at any point in the training process. There is a time when you have to ask large groups of children to stop asking questions! With teenagers I find it’s the opposite! So when they do ask a question be ready not just to run with it but take that question and see if they can ask another 10 on the subject? If they can it tells Me That they really are committed to becoming better and are trying to find the way to achieve that. No one said it would be easy! It’s not but is really is very very rewarding when they step onto the field with confidence and ability.

What you need to bringAlways bring a ball, age appropriate. Water! I need you hydrated! If under age 18 please bring an adult with you! It’s the lawπŸ‘

What I can bringI can provide whatever equipment we will need to help you reach your goals.
