Get to know the student and discern in what way they learn best. Through a series of vocal exercises, comprehend the students strengths and challenges. Test their low and high range. Choose vocal repertoire that will encourage and inspire a love for singing and a desire to improve all aspects of their singing technique.
After 2 to 3 months of consistent voice lessons, itβs time for Voice Student students to share what they have learned in Voice recitals, Voice competitions and/or musical productions. This gives students the opportunity to begin learning the concept of stage presence, musicality, creativity and emotional expression. It is also wise to encourage students at this point to consider joining a choir if they havenβt already done so. Having a consistent opportunity to sing several times a week builds a strong, robust singing voice and improves musical skills like sight-reading, harmonizing, blending and dynamic control.
Repetition of vocal exercises is paramount to improve beauty of tone and extremes in high and low range. These exercises will begin every lesson. Different vocal styles are introduced including Classical, Broadway, Jazz, Pop and others where student show interest.
Teach a series of vocal exercises that improve vocal tone, range, agility
and intonation (singing on pitch). Teach accurate notes and rhythms of their new songs.
