Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson is about building comfort, confidence, and connection. We start by getting to know the student’s musical interests, goals, and any prior experience. I introduce basic fundamentals (such as posture, breathing, hand position, or sound production depending on the instrument) in a relaxed, encouraging way. The lesson focuses on exploration rather than perfection, helping the student feel successful while setting clear expectations for growth.
Lesson 11+After lesson eleven, instruction becomes more personalized and focused on long-term development. Students continue refining technique, learning more challenging music, and developing musical expression and confidence. Lessons adapt to the student’s goals—whether performance, skill mastery, or enjoyment—while reinforcing strong fundamentals, discipline, and musical independence.
Lesson 4-10During lessons four through ten, students experience noticeable growth in technique, control, and musical understanding. We expand exercises, introduce beginner-level repertoire, and strengthen rhythm, timing, and tone. Students learn how to practice more independently, correct mistakes, and apply skills to real music. Lessons become more structured, goal-oriented, and rewarding as confidence and consistency increase.
Lesson 2-3Lessons two and three build on the foundation established in the first session. Students begin developing consistent technique, basic rhythm and pitch awareness, and simple musical patterns or exercises. We reinforce proper habits, introduce short practice routines, and begin working with simple musical material. By this stage, students should feel more confident and start recognizing progress in their sound, coordination, and understanding.
Youth players
Working with kidsWhen working with kids, I keep lessons engaging, structured, and fun while maintaining clear routines. I break concepts into small, easy-to-understand steps and use games, repetition, and positive reinforcement to keep students motivated. Lessons focus on building confidence, listening skills, and basic technique in a supportive environment where kids feel encouraged to explore music without pressure.
Working with teenagersWith teenagers, I balance structure with independence and creativity. Lessons are goal-oriented and connected to the music they enjoy, while still emphasizing strong fundamentals and discipline. I encourage critical thinking, accountability, and self-expression, helping students take ownership of their progress while preparing them for performances, auditions, or personal musical goals.
