Music is my passion, and nurturing that passion in others is incredibly rewarding. With 15 years of experience as a concert performer, I bring a wealth of knowledge to each lesson. I help my students prepare for what their vocal goals are...a vocal audition for a college scholarship, auditioning for "America's Got Talent", commercials, TV shows or theatre. We work very hard in the lessons, but the progress my students make is phenomenal! The lessons are productive and students will be amazed at their progress! All my students learn to read music quickly and all learn and develop an impressive repertoire.

The best! Amber is the best at what she does! I have been taking lessons with her, twice a week, for over 6 months and she has been an amazing voice teacher! I had a goal of getting on "America's Got Talent." When I started I could barely sing. I was so nervous to sing for Amber that first day. You could say, my voice sounded weak. But as I kept moving forward with my voice classes, my voice started to develop into something that I can be proud of and I wouldn't be where I am now without Amber. I now have confidence to sing in front of people. She's very committed to her students, and she doesn't settle for anything less than perfect. If you want to become an amazing singer I would strongly recommend Amber because she pushes you to do your best and encourages you to never give up on your dreams.
Edit by Igi: I continued studying with Amber and during this time "America's Got Talent" came to town. I went downtown to audition. I was waiting in line with hundreds of other applicants and I was pulled out of line and told I'd need to sing on the spot, no music. I was so scared. Just months before I could never had done this, but...I was chosen to move forward. I made it through the next two rounds of auditions and it was one of the best experiences I have ever had.

This teacher makes me feel that I can accomplish anything with my voice! Amber is the best voice teacher I have ever had. I needed help quickly to prepare for an audition piece for a university I was applying for, out of state. I was under a real deadline. . . I heard about Amber from one of her other students. We began work on the piece and it was obvious I needed help with some of my techniques. Even though Amber was fitting me in between other scheduled lessons, she found another time for me the next day. Over the next few days we met 3 more times and we finished the audition piece. The final result was incredible and even the faulty commented on my song, they were veryI impressed with my ability. By the way, I was accepted!

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI must hear the tone of the student and discover if the student can produce and hold a singing tone. I have them sing a song for me. If they are already working on a song, they are free to do that song. If not, I can suggest a few to try.
Lesson 11+We will continue to build upon many components that make a good singer, production of tone, breath control, enunciation, adding emotion to the music. We also learn how to prepare for an audition including how to draw your audience into the song. At this level, students often have particular songs they would like to sing and we will begin to incorporate them into the studies.
Lesson 4-10By now, we will have used the most basic of the vocal exercises to do warm -ups. Then, if the student exhibits
some flexibility we will start with the easiest of songs, one of the student's choice, or one that I suggest. We will start to identify the projected range of the student.
Lesson 2-3I would have already asked the student if they wanted to learn to read music, if so, I will begin to incorporate that into all lessons. We will continue work on the student matching tones I play/sing for them and we will begin to do vocal exercises.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonWe will identify the vocal range of the student. I will ask what the goals the student has for their studying. Are they working towards an audition for a performance, perhaps entry into a university or conservatory? We will quickly identify the strengths of the student's voice and and more importantly, the weaknesses. Where do we need to concentrate our studies?
Lesson 11+If the student desires to go ahead with a recital, and we both feel they are ready, we continue to get them prepared vocally and begin memorizing their songs.
I will ask them to sing the arpeggios of the all major and minor chords.
If the student does not wish to prepare for a recital, we will discuss pursuing a recording of their major songs.
Lesson 4-10We really concentrate on building a reportoire of music. This can mostly be pulled from music the student likes, but I will push for inclusion of genres that I feel all singers should know.
Lesson 2-3We will begin to choose music that will showcase the student's skills. I want every vocal student to prepare for a 45-60 minute recital. We will continue with all vocal warm -ups and exercises to strengthen their voice. At this point the student should be able to sing songs from a variety of musical genres. We always continue proper breath work and breathing techniques.
Youth players
Working with teenagersI use the same goals and techniques I have written about in my beginning and advanced teaching plans, but for teenagers I like to break the lessons in "time block," working on one area and then another to keep up their interest. I also like to have them sing with a friend or relative that is musical and give them multiple opportunities to perform at the lessons, even 1 or two songs! This easily prepare them for performing and helps remove stage fright, if done on a regular basis.
