Beginner training plan
Your first tutoringIntroduction to Biology & the Characteristics of Life — What biology studies, levels of biological organization, characteristics shared by living organisms, and an introduction to scientific thinking.
Tutoring 2-3Cell Structure & Function — Prokaryotic vs. eukaryotic cells, plant vs. animal cells, major organelles, and how cell structures relate to their functions.
Cell Membranes & Transport — The phospholipid bilayer, diffusion, osmosis, facilitated diffusion, active transport, and maintaining homeostasis.
Tutoring 4-10Biomolecules & Enzymes — Carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids; basic structure and function; enzymes and factors that influence enzyme activity.
Cellular Energy — ATP, photosynthesis, and cellular respiration, with an emphasis on how organisms obtain, store, and use energy.
Cell Division: Mitosis & Meiosis — The cell cycle, stages and purpose of mitosis and meiosis, chromosome basics, and why the two processes produce different outcomes.
DNA, Genes & Protein Synthesis — DNA structure, genes and chromosomes, DNA replication, transcription, translation, and how genetic information becomes a functional protein.
Introduction to Genetics & Inheritance — Mendelian genetics, dominant and recessive alleles, genotype vs. phenotype, Punnett squares, and simple inheritance problems.
Evolution & Natural Selection — Variation, mutation, natural selection, adaptation, common ancestry, and evidence supporting evolution.
Ecology & Biological Interactions — Individuals, populations, communities, and ecosystems; food chains and food webs, energy flow, symbiosis, and interactions between organisms and their environment.
