Hi, I'm Rita! I have over 20 years of experience teaching English Language Arts and supporting student achievement. I hold a Ph.D. in Education and California teaching credentials in English and Elementary Education. I help students in reading, writing, literacy, study skills, and academic coaching for middle school, high school, and college students. My lessons are supportive, engaging, and tailored to each student's goals.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI begin by getting to know the student, discussing their goals, strengths, and areas of concern. I conduct an informal assessment of reading, writing, or academic skills and create a personalized learning plan. Students leave with clear goals and strategies they can begin using right away.
Lesson 2-3Students can expect targeted instruction based on their individual needs. We focus on foundational skills, practice strategies together, and build confidence through guided activities. I provide immediate feedback and adjust instruction as needed.
Lesson 4-10During these lessons, students deepen their skills through structured practice and application. We work on reading comprehension, writing, grammar, vocabulary, organization, and study skills as appropriate. Progress is monitored regularly, and instruction is tailored to help students achieve measurable growth.
Lesson 11+As students gain confidence and independence, lessons focus on mastering more advanced skills and applying strategies across subjects and assignments. We continue refining strengths, addressing challenges, and setting new goals to ensure long-term academic success and confidence as learners.
