Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first session is a get to know you session. I want to start building a relationship with the student and learn what interests they have to incorporate in future lessons. I use this time to learn what type of learning style they are: visual, hands on, listening, etc. I also want to understand what they would like to get out of our lessons.
Lesson 2-3I would gather a starting point. I would evaluate where they currently are academically, and build from there.
Lesson 4-10I would start getting more into the meat of the lessons at this point. By lesson 8-9, I would like to check-in and see what progress has been made, or if goals need to be adjusted.
Lesson 11+I would use these lessons to evaluate progression and if expectations need to be adjusted. I would be communicating throughout with family how things are going. However, I would use this time to check in with them and get feedback to incorporate into planning.
Youth players
Working with kidsI would adapt: instruction style, material learned, and games/activities used. The length of the lessons may also differ based on attention span. I enjoy incorporating songs and educational videos that are age appropriate.
