Beginner training plan
Your first lessonFIRST LESSON Focus on building comfort, confidence, and basic coordination. We’ll introduce the fundamentals: proper grip, ready position, and simple forehand/backhand movements. Players will learn key court terminology (baseline, service line, deuce/ad side) while working through hand-fed drills and controlled repetitions. The goal is to build a strong technical foundation and get the ball over the net consistently while developing a feel for the game.
Lesson 11+Players begin applying their fundamentals in more realistic match situations. The focus shifts to consistency under pressure, shot selection, and basic strategy (court positioning, rally patterns, and constructing points). We’ll continue refining serves and returns with more purpose, while introducing situational drills and structured point play. Lessons become more individualized based on each player’s strengths and areas for improvement, with the goal of building confidence in match play and long-term development.
Lesson 4-10Players begin turning fundamentals into consistency and control. We’ll continue refining grip, footwork, and stroke mechanics while introducing directional control (crosscourt vs. down the line) and better spacing to the ball. Players will develop more reliable serves and returns, learn proper point structure, and gain a clear understanding of scoring. Drills become more rally-based with an emphasis on consistency, movement, and making clean contact under light pressure. The goal is to build confidence sustaining rallies and begin applying fundamentals in point play.
Lesson 2-3We continue building on the fundamentals introduced in the first lesson. Players will reinforce proper grips, ready position, and stroke mechanics while improving consistency through repetition and hand-fed drills. We’ll introduce footwork patterns, spacing to the ball, and proper contact points. Players will also begin learning the basics of the serve and return, along with additional court terminology and simple scoring concepts. The focus is on developing control, confidence, and a more consistent ability to rally.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonEvaluate current level and establish a performance baseline. We’ll assess stroke mechanics, consistency, footwork, and overall court awareness. Focus will be on refining fundamentals (grip, spacing, contact point) while introducing rally structure and consistency drills. The goal is to identify strengths/weaknesses and begin building a more reliable, repeatable game.
Lesson 11+Focus on match performance and advanced strategy. Players will work on patterns of play, adapting to different opponents, and executing under pressure. Emphasis on serve +1, return +1, court positioning, and mental toughness. Sessions become more individualized with match play, competitive drills, and targeted adjustments. The goal is to confidently compete and perform at a higher level.
Lesson 4-10Shift toward building a complete, competitive game. Players will develop point construction, learn to control rallies with intent, and improve transition play (approach shots, net play). Serve and return become more strategic, focusing on placement and setting up points. Drills will include live ball, situational play, and pressure-based scenarios. The goal is to execute fundamentals consistently while making smarter decisions during points.
Lesson 2-3Focus on improving consistency and control under moderate pace. Players will work on rally tolerance, directional control (crosscourt patterns), and footwork efficiency. We’ll begin emphasizing proper spacing, recovery, and shot selection, while introducing serve + first ball and return fundamentals. The goal is to sustain longer rallies with better control and positioning.

Youth players
Working with kidsI adapt my coaching style to meet kids where they are—making lessons engaging, structured, and age-appropriate. I focus on building strong fundamentals in a way that keeps players active and attentive, using clear instruction, simple cues, and repetition to help skills stick. I understand that every child learns differently, so I adjust my communication and pace to match each player’s personality and development level. My lessons emphasize confidence, coordination, and consistency, while creating a positive environment where kids feel comfortable learning and improving. My goal is not only to develop solid tennis skills, but to help kids enjoy the game, stay motivated, and build confidence both on and off the court.

Working with teenagersI tailor my coaching style to match the goals and maturity level of each teenager, creating a balance between structure, challenge, and accountability. I focus on refining fundamentals while helping players understand how to apply them in real match situations through consistency, footwork, and point construction. I emphasize clear communication and honest feedback, encouraging players to take ownership of their development and compete with confidence. Sessions are more intentional and performance-driven, with drills designed to improve decision-making, consistency under pressure, and overall court awareness. My goal is to help teenage players elevate their game, think more strategically, and build the confidence and discipline needed to succeed both on and off the court.

This was a private lesson for me and my girlfriend. We’ve been wanting to learn the basics and fundamentals and I saw the teachme app ad somewhere. After going through different coaches and reviews I stumbled on Patrick. I’m glad we choose Patrick because he was exactly was his reviews said. My and my girlfriend were nervous at first and also having to be instructed in front of a bunch of other golfers felt nerve racking, but Patrick made it super easy. Super patient. He provided clubs and the steps he took with the explanation through every movement was great. He started by explaining to my girlfriend how golf is played and the terminologies. We booked 3 sessions with him and can’t wait for the next.

Very nice guy who made us feel at ease (doubles) and was very helpful in our first lesson. Took note of my physical limitations and offered up some helpful workarounds. If you are looking to take lessons, he’s the dude.
