How it works

Beginner training plan

Your first lessonI will teach the basic rules of Pickleball and some common misunderstanding people usually have when they start playing pickleball. Next, we will practice dinking skills to gain the feeling of playing pickleball.

Lesson 4-10Starting from lesson 4, we will continue enhancing the skills of serving and return the serve. If students can get at least 90% of accuracy in those two shots, we will move on to third ball drive and third ball shot. The objective of these two types of

Lesson 2-3On lesson 2, we will start practicing volley dink on both forehand and backhand, and determine the shot selection during dinking games. On lesson 3, we will start to practice the first two shots in pickleball game - serving and return of serve, including learning legal serve mechanics, and understanding return of serve strategies.

Advanced training plan

Your first lessonThe first lesson will focus on control and depth with pace. Drills include baseline deep-corner targeting under movement, and volley-to-volley reflex drill with narrowing targets.

Lesson 4-10Next, we will focus on attacking short balls and high percentage finishing. The drill includes attacking placement patterns and speed up and then reset challenges. The next class will focus on serve and return patterns and point construction. The drill includes deep serve and return to set up 3rd and 5th shots.

Lesson 2-3On the second lesson, we will focus on reading returns and selecting third ball drop or third ball drive. On the third lesson, we will focus on kitchen control and handling fast-paced net battles. The drill includes punch volley and soft block volley and 4th shot fire fight drill (reset and counter).

Youth players

Working with kidsI will keep it fun and Game-based. I will use mini-competition, obstacle courses, and creative targets to disguise repetition as play. Secondly, I will simplify rules and concepts by using cones, tapes, and visual aids to show zones rather than explaining them. Thirdly, I will let kids focus on movement and body awareness because good movement early = less bad habits later. Lastly, I will keep a positive coaching style such as giving high fives. The goal is to build confidence, not perfection.

Working with teenagersFirstly, I will respect thier learning capacity, this builds trust, curiosity, and a competitive mindset. Meanwhile, I can also make the training session and game more competitive and social because teens love challenges. Secondly, I will increase the pace and physical challenge, this includes incorporating fitness-based warmup, run footwork and reaction drills and allow full-court movement. This prepares them for real tournament or recreational level play. Lastly, I will introduce tactical thinking, such as shot selection when dealing with different player types. Overall, the strategy to teach terms is to be positive but direct with encouraging personal goals.

About your pickleball coach

Currently I am an NCCP certified pickleball coach in Canada. I'm deeply involved in the world of Pickleball, having started playing in 2019 and achieving a rating over 4.5. I involved a lot of Pickleball training video-making which brought me a lot of experience teaching the right techniques and game experience to players with various level. My tournament journey includes a second-place finish in men's singles at the Kamloops Legacy Performance tournament in 2019, as well as two gold medals in singles and mixed doubles at "Battle of the West -Iced Out" Tournament held in Missisauga. With over five years of competitive play under my belt, I've honed my coaching skills, spending a year teaching beginners the fundamentals and tournament strategies.
