Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe’ll cover the 4-5 most common shots in the game, the court, the rules, scoring, the flow of game points and we’ll finish by playing some to put the things you learned into practice
Lesson 4-10We’ll introduce you to a couple of shots that will get you applause from your playing partner and competitors when you execute them during a game. You’ll learn drills that you can do in between lessons to improve your hand-speed, identify openings, and become an all-around better player.
Lesson 2-3In your next lesson(s), we’ll add in 3-4 more shots that you’ll need to advance your game. We’ll also spend more time with strategy, tactics, and positioning on the court. Each of these are critical to improve, advance to the “next level” and for your overall enjoyment of Pickleball.
Advanced training plan
Your first lessonA key during your first lesson is for you to demonstrate your shot skills and most importantly your (complete) understanding of the game’s key strategies and myriad of tactics. This allows me to diagnose your strengths and weaknesses and build from there. No sense spending a lot of time on parts of the game that you’re already really good at. But almost always, this first lesson uncovers one or more “gems” that can be deployed right away and can immediately result in more wins for you on the courts.
Lesson 2-3We’ll focus on an individualized plan for honing your skills and enhancing decision-making in your game. Quite a bit of “coach-play” will be used.
Youth players
Working with kidsI regularly do youth clinics and individual lessons and can keep children engaged and having fun during the lesson.
Working with teenagersI enjoy working with teens. I believe I have the right mix of patience and motivational skills to both introduce Pickleball to teens who want to have fun playing the game with friends/family. As well as rapidly help, through individualized coaching, those teens who want to seriously utilize their athleticism to become high level Pickleball players.
