I start with a warm welcome and a quick chat to understand your experience, athletic background, and goals. We’ll cover basic court positioning, scoring, paddle grip, and footwork. Then we get right into it: cooperative dinking, serve/return mechanics, and movement drills like “serve and stay back.” The focus is on making you feel comfortable, having fun, and starting with good habits.
At this point, we’re refining your identity as a player. You’ll be pushed with pressure drills, higher-level strategy, and controlled scrimmages. We’ll work on recognizing your opponents’ weaknesses, minimizing unforced errors, and turning defense into offense. If you’re ready, we can also work on tournament prep, match mindset, and building your strengths into weapons.
Now we start layering in consistency and control. Expect more dynamic drills and game-like play — targeting backhands, setting up the point with patient patterns, and understanding when to speed up or slow down the game. We’ll also introduce more advanced return variations (slice, lob) and partner coordination (covering middle/sideline, stacking if applicable). Games with feedback become a bigger part of each session.
We build on the basics: deeper dinks with purpose, third shot drop or drive recognition, and when to move up to the kitchen line. You'll also start learning resets and shadow movement with your partner. We do a lot of live ball drills like “7/11” and “drop and crash” to reinforce decision-making and court awareness.
