Beginner training plan
Your first lessonOur first lesson will start with a skills assessment, where I evaluate your pickleball game and mechanics. From there, we will practice fundamental pickleball techniques and mechanics tailored to your individual needs. These techniques include catch and release drills, mobility and footwork exercises, and body mechanics analyses.
Lesson 11+Any further lessons will be geared towards refining your pickleball skills to play at an intermediate level and beyond! This includes learning the third shot drop, basic strategy tips, on-court positioning, and simple pattern recognition.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4 - 10 will emphasize applying the techniques weโ€™ve practiced to a game scenario. We will work on developing consistency and maintaining longer rallies in a pickleball game, as well as including the proper context for why we do what we do in a game scenario.
Lesson 2-3Our second and third lessons will focus on continuing to practice the key areas of improvement we previously identified. Weโ€™ll make any additional adjustments as needed, whether that be including any additional drills or exercises or modifying existing ones.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonOur first lesson together will begin with a discussion of specific areas of your game that youโ€™d like to improve or are struggling to develop. Some common areas students want to improve in are their third shot drops, transition zone shots, and dinks. Weโ€™ll play a couple of points to view the weak points in context and then weโ€™ll implement drills to improve the needed areas for development, as well as identify the root causes for the errors.
Lesson 11+The following lessons will be focused on point construction, shot selection, and consistency in technique. Youโ€™ll learn what decisions to make on the court and when, why those decisions are the best options, what pickleball shots will help you win points, and what body mechanics will help you achieve the best techniques.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4 - 10 will be geared towards identifying other areas of improvement and repeating the same drilling-application cycle as the first three lessons.
Lesson 2-3In our second and third lessons, weโ€™ll continue to work on your key areas of improvement from the first lesson via tailored drills and work towards implementing them into a game scenario. Weโ€™ll discuss what the proper decisions and techniques are to set yourself up for improvement

Samuel is a great teacher. I learn a lot from our lessons. I will definitely refer him to everyone I know who wants to improve their pickleball games and learn new skills. Samuel is also a great guy. Very friendly and patient.

Sam is an incredibly helpful instructor who goes the extra mile to tailor his lesson to his students. Both my husband and I love using him for lessons, even though weโ€™re at pretty different levels of advancement. Iโ€™m a novice while my husband is getting ready for the 3.5 level.

I enjoyed my lesson with Samuel

Sam was an incredible instructor. He taught about 11 individuals of varying skill level at the same time and was able to individualize his feedback to each person. He was able to quickly observe what each person needed to improve and give them instruction. I really appreciated how he had us all doing drills specific to our abilities, athleticism, and experience.

Samuel puts a lot of work into perfecting his craft as a teacher. His ability to explain pickleball concepts and his patience as you figure out pickleball shots is a combination that will set you up for success. It is clear that the tips he shares with his students have been earned with sweat and hard work!
