Beginner training plan
Your first lessonEstablishing a students goals in the first session comes with my sports training mantra “eliminate the variables”. This comes through an upfront gear assessment (paddle, shoes, accessories) and thoughtful analysis of your current fitness and injury history. From here we can perform a skill assessment that may leverage other racquet sports experience through some basic drilling that is relative to your level of play. Not having previous racquet sports experience is by no means a hindrance, but it merely establishes the need for some more grass roots skills mastery. Additionally, take home eye hand paddle drills will radically move the competence needle.
Lesson 11+Taking your game forward and learning the lessons for power (big serves / overheads drive shots) vs control play (dinks / third shot drops etc.) It is at this point where fitness / strength & power all come together in advanced drilling for your pickleball aspirations.
Lesson 4-10We can play pickleball in a game format and are on our way to understanding strategic and situational nuances to playing with different partners. At this point in your development the magnetic attraction to playing pickleball is established. It is at this point going forward you will likely feel the desire to become more competitive or strictly play in a recreational setting with friends. Now keep in mind that those people in the competitive realm will also become friends, but here the social upside becomes rooted in your competency and improvement. From my professional tennis training background I will put forth the absolute necessity for “drilling “. To drill is to become competent in situational play. And yes, drill some more.
Lesson 2-3Knowing that you are ready to hone your skills for actual game play is an exciting point in your development. An introduction to the different shots and play situations is the big step towards competent level specific gameplay. New pickleball specific vocabulary will become part of your on court experience not to mention the seemingly complicated (at first) scoring rotations.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonYou have likely participated in a league, open play and or tournaments. You may have experienced an injury related to extended play sessions and inadequate rest and recovery. The answer is similar in every competitive sport. Training. Training is not drilling. Training involves different layers or separate ends of the same stick, those being baseline strength on one end with functional movement specific power on the other. Performing well at enhanced levels is rooted in this development. Learning some foundational and pickleball specific training protocols is just the beginning.
Lesson 11+Every player who has strived for this level of mastery has battled with the issue of “not playing like they train”, it’s called choking. This is where my full spectrum coaching shines. Achieving full gas practice level play in competition is a strong indicator that you have made it. The key to continued success is simple. Don’t stop
Lesson 4-10We are well on a road to pickleball performance based fitness. Now we combine our training with pickleball drills to FUNCTIONALIZE the training. This is the art of combing baseline strength and power training into consistent and booming neural patterns. You are playing big now and it is time to go use it.
Lesson 2-3Okay, you have bought in and understand the need. This is where my pedigree teaching. / training professional tennis players has direct crossover impact. We design an individualized training program that can be executed with or without me. We spend our time together perfecting form and execution levels. The next level is where real powerful changes are possible.
