I noticed Nate's expertise on the court and sought him out for a lesson. He is kind, encouraging n gave me specific ideas on improving my game. I have implemented some of his techniques and am really getting it! He is so supportive and professional I definitely will continue with lessons with him. He is the best instructor I've ever had. He breaks it down so I can relate versus others that I really didn't get what they were really "telling" me. When he is on the court with other players that aren't as skilled he is the same way (supportive) it's not just a money thing! It's his genuine personality. I can't wait for the next lessons. I do know lessons aren't "one and done" - so I want to continue to grow with Nate coaching me.

I have met many instructors but none that come even close to Nathan. He is an amazingly gifted player, yet gentle kind and patient, he is always encouraging and positive, giving you insight on how to improve your game in a way that is easy to understand and put into practice. Not only is he an excellent teacher but a genuinely good person who truly cares about people and sincerely wants to help you. I cannot speak highly enough of both his instruction as well as his personal character, he will help you improve your game and you will have fun and enjoy every minute of it!

Nate was extremely easy to work with in setting up our lesson, had great communication along the way, and made our first lesson very enjoyable. My husband and I have never played and were excited to learn. Nate's lesson made us excited to keepplating! His instruction style was very interactive, letting us practice various hits and serves, then playing a few games. He went at a good learning pace, and was supportive and positive throughout. We highly recommend Nate and are glad our lesson was with him.

My wife and I took instruction from Nate on several occasions. His instruction and demonstrations are clear and easy to understand for both novice and more experienced players. His instructions and drills are patient and non-threatening. Nate introduced us to strategic parts of the game such as dinking, drop shots and proper court positioning, as well as strategies to help defend against difficult players and difficult shots.

Beginner training plan
Your first lesson*Covering the basics of how to hit the ball properly, emphasizing no back swing and proper contact point
*Becoming familiar with groundstrokes and getting rallies going
*Introduction to serving and returning
Lesson 11+*Volleying at the NVZ, emphasizing paddle angle and footwork
*Hitting an overhead smash, proper footwork and overhead smash drilling.
*Volleys at the kitchen line, focusing on hitting to tht baseline
*Groundstrokes to baseline drilling, emphasize using forehand and backhand.
*Real games with real scoring
Lesson 4-10*Groundstrokes including groundstroke to volley drilling and proper depth placement.
*Volleying at the NVZ, including proper footwork, paddle angle, swing path, stance, and drills. Building hand skills will be emphasized.
*Serving and returning drills, emphasis on correct placement and technique.
*Introduction to dinking and the soft game. Types of dinks, proper swing path, paddle angle, footwork, and sensations.
*NVZ and the importance of getting to the kitchen line, including beat the catch drill
*Games with rally scoring, skills learned above will be emphasized. Students will learn how to keep score, proper positioning, and footwork.
Lesson 2-3*Continuing to learn proper groundstroke technique. Proper paddle angle, swing path, and sensations emphasized.
*Fundamentals of serving, serve styles, footwork, placement, locations, and drilling.
*Returning the ball, including proper location and depth. Drilling will be emphasized.
*Game using rally scoring, implementing the skills learned.
Advanced training plan
Your first lesson*Baseline groundstrokes, emphasizing proper technique and form. Encourage the use of top spin
*Volley drills at the kitchen line. Practice volleying to partner at kitchen line. Drilling with partner at baseline.
*Dinking and speedups. Emphasizing when to speed up the ball and proper location. Types of speedups.
Lesson 11+*Advanced drop shots: Drop shot zones will be discussed, along with drilling. Slice drops and Topspin drops will be introduced.
*Dropshot drill: Student will stand at baseline and do drops and resets, working up to the kitchen line effectively.
*Reset balls in the transition zone and drilling
*Introduction to top spin drives
Lesson 4-10*Introduction to resets and blocking, hitting zones and when to speed up vs reset
*Students will learn how to effectively reset ball back into the NVZ from the transition area. Proper paddle angle and form will be emphasized.
*Resetting the ball at the NVZ
Lesson 2-3*Introduction to hitting a drop shot: sensation, swing path, and paddle angle will be discussed.
*Dropshot drills, including student working their way back to baseline and up to the NVZ.
*Advanced dinking, including different types of dinks, strategy, and footwork.
Youth players
Working with teenagersIts important to break lessons down, so it's easy for kids to understand. Visual learning and demonstration is a huge part of my lessons. You learn by seeing and then applying what you observed. Finally, I have students play real games to implement what they've learned.

What I can bringPlease bring a paddle that you're comfortable playing with and use on a regular basis. It's important to know what works best for you. If you do not have a paddle, I have extras you can use and test out.
