Before we go on the court, I will ask you about your athletic background and if you have ever played a racquet/paddle sport before. I'll tell you what's different about Pickleball - what to expect. I'll give you a 1-page summary of How to Play Pickleball, if you need it.
Then, if needed, we'll go on the court and I'll explain the lines and some basic rules.
Next, I will demonstrate the basic strokes you need to play the game and let you try them, That tells us what you need to work on & practice. Last we'll briefly do a 3-ball drill that simulates playing.
if you already have the ability, we'll work on specific strokes, movements or strategies you want to improve so you can play better.
Most beginners don't need more lessons to play socially.
But, if you are serious about league or tournament play, we can continue working on strokes, spins, movement, and consistency. If needed, I will refer you to a "hitting partner" or tournament level coach.
We'll just keep working on improving your weakest strokes, consistency, trying a few spins & slices, perfecting your overhead smashes and "dinking your opponent to death."
After 2 or 3 lessons, you will be capable of playing and enjoying social games with friends or other players at the same level.
Once we see what your level is and what you need to work on, we do specific drills to work on those. We'll start using targets, stroke combinations and a ball machine to work on consistency. Pickleball is not a game of "how hard you can hit the ball."
