So you want to join this pickleball craze? Of course you do! After decades of tennis, table tennis, badminton, and racquetball, I discovered this incredible sport of pickleball. I quickly fell in love and won my first gold medal in my first couple of months! I’ve been playing incessantly ever since. I soon began helping others learn how to play and earned my PCI coaching certification in November 2021. Looking to sharpen my teaching skills further, I gained my PPR certification in June 2023. My approach to coaching is simple- tangible results for students. I want to help you reach your potential as soon as possible. Lessons are focused on you and your needs. I love it when my students come back and tell me what they learned worked. So whether you’re a new player or trying to reach the next level, I’d love to help you do that as I have with lots of past students.

Again, Michael had a great game plan for training... warm up, dink training, then he focused on areas of the game that always need help. We finished off with some singles competition.

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe’ll focus on three things: holding the paddle, having an athletic stance, and making solid ball contact.
Lesson 11+Now that you have the basics down, we’ll build on that by focusing on being a good partner, attacking and countering-attacking and defense. You’ll learn how to stay in points and win them.
Lesson 4-10In the early sessions (4-6) we’ll focus on improving your stokes and spend extra time on your weaker ones like backhands.
In the later sessions (7+) we’ll go more in depth on getting to the NVZ and constructing points. We’ll build your skills with drills like 3 Shots, 7-11, and skinny singles.
Lesson 2-3We’ll dig into the phases of the game and how to hit basic shots in each phase.
Advanced training plan
What you need to bringWear comfortable athletic clothes that are fitting for weather conditions and either pickleball specific or other outdoor court shoes to provide the support you need while learning. I also recommend sports sunglasses or other protective lenses. Always have a water bottle for liquid hydration. Additionally, sunscreen is very helpful to avoid sunburn even on a cloudy day. Towels and sweatbands are very helpful on hot south Alabama days.
What I can bringI will bring balls and teaching aids. I also have paddles available for students to use. If you don’t have a paddle or aren’t happy with yours, I can recommend some options for you based on your budget and preferences.
