Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIn the first lesson I start with the fundamentals of pickleball. I help students have the right grip and ready position and we also talk about safety. Then I teach all the basic shots: dinks, volleys, drives and serves.
Lesson 11+Lessons 11+ I continue to drill players’ weak shots while also capitalizing on their strengths. I combine drills and game play and also add tournament strategies to enable my students to compete competitively.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4-10 I work on more advanced shots and drills like Erne’s, ATPs and fast hand speed battles.
Lesson 2-3If I have 4 students I offer 2 hour lessons where we spend the first hour fifteen doing drills to develop basic skills, then the last 45 minutes we play games working on strategy. I watch players to ascertain what shots we need to work on next.

Advanced training plan
Your first lessonWith advanced players the first lesson is about assessment, what their goals are for competitive play and what they want to improve.
Lesson 11+In lessons 11+ I watch them play competitively to ascertain what areas of the game they need to strengthen and design drills in game like settings.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4-10 we continue to play drills designed to combine paddle skills, footwork and strategy. For example if they are training for singles I will hit balls from one side of the court to the other and give them specific areas of the court ti target. In doubles a good drill to practice in unwinding the stack is for me to serve to them, they run cross court to the net and I attempt to hit a passing shot and they have to cover the line.
Lesson 2-3Lessons 2-3 I craft skill specific drills designed to improve weak aspects of their game and capitalize on their strengths. For example for serves I will set up hula hoops in different places on the court to practice targeting different areas of the return court.

Youth players
Working with kidsWith kids the goal is always to make lessons fun. I change up the drills every 5 to 10 minutes and am always positive and supportive. I also like to give prizes for new skills learned like stickers.

Working with teenagersI currently coach a high school team of teenagers. I really enjoy working with teenagers. I tap into their competitive spirit and make drills into games where they compete against themselves and each other. I meet them where they are and work on the skills they need. I also manage behavior, always encouraging a positive attitude.

What you need to bringA paddle if they have one, bottle of water, sunscreen and a hat.

What I can bringI bring all the equipment: a basket of balls, demo paddles and a net if needed.

I am a tennis player and was very skeptical about pickleball, but a friend recommended Lynn as a teacher and I’m so glad she did. I am now completely addicted to pickleball. Lynn helped me use my tennis skills, and also helped me unlearn some tennis techniques to play a strong game of pickleball in a very short amount of time. For anyone who wants a new healthy addiction, sign up with Lynn!

I’m new to the Ashton area and I was looking for a way to meet people. I found out that people play pickleball here but I wanted to take some lessons before I joined. The Community Center recommended Lynn and boy am I happy. She improved my game enough in 3 weeks that I felt confident enough to join in with the local players.

I met Lynn at a cooking class and she told me that she teaches pickleball. I’ve been looking for an opportunity to learn and Lynn was the perfect teacher - patient, fun and encouraging. I highly recommend Lynn for anyone who wants to learn pickleball in a positive environment.
